Wat Phanan Choeng Temple, Ayutthaya, Thailand
Wat Phanan Choeng Temple (a Wat is a Temple) has a long, and pretty boring myth that goes along with it. The short version. A Thai King and Chinese Princess, met, married, and she either drowned or suffocated herself.
That being said, the most important piece in this temple is Thailand's most ancient and large Buddha image that is over 600 years old. However, I thought the ordination hall containing three other Buddha images in Gold, Silver and Copper/Bronze were equally awe inspiring.

Wat Phanan Choeng è famoso per la sua grande statua del Buddha,si tratta di una delle più grandi, più antiche, più belle e venerate statue del Buddha della Thailandia. La storia racconta che la statua versò lacrime quando i birmani presero Ayutthaya nel 1767. É realizzata in mattoni e cemento, ricoperta di stucco dorato.Vicino al fiume si trova un piccolo e colorato tempio cinese, decorato con draghi. Wat Phanan Choeng, Ayutthaya
Wat Phanan Choeng is a lively temple compound at the junction of the Pasak and Chao Phraya River in Ayutthaya. While the temple structures themselves are a bit unremarkable by Ayutthaya standards, the main attraction is the huge gilded Buddha Image Phra Phanan Choeng. Religious ceremonies take place here regularly. You can witness the changing of the robes of the Buddha.

Wat Yai Chai Mongkol was founded in the second half of the 14th century during the reign of King U Thong, first ruler of Ayutthaya. A chedi and viharn were built, the temple was named Wat Pa Kaeo. Wat Pa Kaeo became an important temple when it was made the seat of the Supreme Patriarch of the forest sect of Buddhism.
The monastery got its present name after construction of the Chedi Chai Mongkhon in the late 16th century.
During the Burmese invasion of 1767 the temple was largely destroyed.
Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon, “the Monastery of Auspicious Victory” is located East of the historical island. Highlight of the monastery is its very large imposing prang dominating the area. Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon is still an active temple; monks live in kuti on the grounds

Wat Phanan Choeng (Thai: วัดพนัญเชิงis )a Buddhist temple in the city of Ayutthaya, Thailand.Built in 1324, some 26 years before the city of Ayutthaya was officially founded.
An impressively large Buddha Image, Phra Chao Phananchoeng, is houses in a specially dedicated tall building it is constructed of brick and mortar.The Buddha Image itself measures 14.25 meters from knee to knee, and 19 meters in height (including the ornament above the head)The local people reportedly offer worship to the image and obtain predictions of their luck.
The stucco Buddha image is 19 meters tall The temple has been restored several times, and had undergone a restoration in 1928 because his face fell off. The restorer was Prof. Corrado Feroci with the Thai name Prof. Silpa Bhirasi, an Italian artist, the President of the Silpakorn University, and the first person to teach fine arts in Thailand using Western method.
The temple was visited in 1407 by Zheng He.There are a lot of statues, next to a temple similar to Chinese temples ,with the outer wall essentially joining two separate buildings together and an open space in between. The two-storey structure has a large alter below and a smaller one on a second floor. The window shutters and doors are highly decorated with dragons and phoenix birds.
During the Spring Festival is the busiest time, the devotee from overseas and other province will come visit , If you are a Buddhist this place is a must see place for your itenary..

Das Königreich Ayutthaya war ein thailändisches Königreich, das von 1351 bis 1767 existierte.
Wat Phra Si Sanphet (auch Sri Sanphet war der königliche Tempel auf dem Gelände des alten Königspalastes in Ayutthaya, bevor die Stadt 1767 von den Birmanen vollständig zerstört wurde. Er war der größte und schönste Tempel in Ayutthaya, wie es heute der Wat Phra Kaeo in Bangkok ebenfalls darstellt.
Le Wat Phra Si Sanphet est un temple bouddhiste d'Ayutthaya, ancienne capitale royale de l'actuelle Thaïlande. Il servait de temple royal, car bien qu'enclos dans une cour particulière, il était à l'intérieur de l'enceinte du Wang Luang, immédiatement au sud du palais royal d'Ayutthaya. Sa position était donc semblable à celle du Wat Phra Kaeo par rapport au Palais royal de Bangkok.
