Wat Mahathat | Wat Ratchaburana | Wat Phra Ram | Ayutthaya | Thailand | V7
Shot with my Canon Powershot G7X Mk II and iPhone X.
This is a vlog of my travels of South East Asia.
I'm currently travelling in Thailand with plans to move on to Cambodia and later Vietnam and Laos when my Thai Visa expires.
This vlog contains some of the ruined temples in Ayutthaya, Thailand. Ayutthaya, full name Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, situated just North of Bangkok on the Chao Phraya River, used to be Thailand's Capital City until April 1767 when the City was sacked by the Burmese in the Burmese-Siamese War (1765-1767).
The city is vibrant, full of history and local culture. The food is excellent and accommodation suitable for all from the budget traveller to the family holiday maker.

Wat Phra Ram Ayutthaya (วัดพระราม) impressive without the crowds

Ancient monument well worth the visit impressive without the crowds
Wat Phra Ram Ayutthaya (วัดพระราม) Really amazing large tower in Ayuttaya. On the day we went it was not very crowded as compared to other Wats and you pretty much have it to yourself. The Tower can be seen from quite a way hard to miss and definitely worth a few photos.
Avoid going there in a sunny day it's a big temple and not covered, You’ll take some very lovely photos at this sight, very little shade but plenty of historical atmosphere.
This temple is half-way between the museum and the archaeological park, many visitors just whisk past not knowing what they are missing. It is very impressive, sitting in a well-kept garden, should be on any itinerary.

HISTORY
.
King Ramescuen built this temple or Wat about 1369 AD on the site of the burial of a former king. However, the building was not completed within his life time as he died in 1370 just one year after his coronation. The temple fell into bad repair but as it is in close proximity to the Royal palace it was extensively repaired by King Boromatrailokanat. It was again renovated during 1741AD Inside the temple you can see a range of stone images of Buddha contained in a corncob shaped chedi

The Ayutthaya historical park covers the ruins of the old city of Ayutthaya, Thailand. The city of Ayutthaya was founded by King Ramathibodi I in 1350 and was the capital of the country until its destruction by the Burmese army in 1767
Wat Phra Ram, Ayutthaya
Wat Phra Ram features an impressive prang, with some decorations intact. In front of the wat is a lake, Bung Phra Ram, which likely artificial, and a result of digging, the earth being used in the construction of all the closeby temples.

22) Wat Phra Ram - Ayutthaya
The Royal Chronicles of Ayutthaya contradict each other in stating the date of foundation of this temple complex. The “Luang Prasoet” version attributed the year 1369 to its foundation: “In the year 731 CS , a year of the rooster, the monastery Phra Ram was first erected. At that time, King Ramathibodi died and Prince Ramesuan , son of the king, ascended the throne.

THAILAND VLOG Day 1 ( Ayutthaya: Sitting & Reclining Buddha, Unesco Heritage: Wat Phra Ram, Wat Ma
What to do in Bangkok with a side trip to Ayutthaya. Theres so many beautiful things to see. Ayutthaya is an hour and a half drive from Bangkok, depending on the traffic. This place is very rich in Culture and Heritage , worth the long drive, make sure AC works well though.
We visited on the last weekend of March 2016.
It sure was one hot summer, feels like in an oven. Overall, The ruins of old city of Ayutthaya is a must visit. Did i say, this was where the Thai iced tea originated from? ????????????

Wat Mahathat, “the temple of the Great Relic” was one of the most important temples in the Ayutthaya Kingdom. Located on the historical island the large monastery features a huge central prang, a very large principal viharn and ubosot and a great number of subsidiary chedis and viharns. The upper part of its once massive central prang has collapsed. Today only the base remains.
One of the temple’s most photographed objects is the head of a stone Buddha image entwined in the roots of a tree.
Wat Phra Si Sanphet, “the temple of the Buddha Si Sanphet” was the most important temple in the Ayutthaya Kingdom. Being part of the Royal Palace complex, the very large monastery with dozens of structures was used by Ayutthaya Kings only; it was a Royal temple without resident monks.
In its heydays mid 17th century the temple consisted of a raised platform supporting three very large gilded bell shaped stupas and three gilded mondops, an enormous viharn enshrining a 16 meter tall gilded Buddha image, as well as dozens of smaller chedis and chapels

Wat Phra Ram.WMV
Royal Chronicles date Wat Phra Ram to 1369. King Ramesuan ordered the construction of this monastery as a crematory site for his father, King U-Thong (also known as Ramathibodhi), who was the founder of the Ayutthaya kingdom. However, Wat Phra Ram temple was probably not completed until the reign of Borommaracha I (1370-1388). Wat Phra Ram was restored once by King Borommatrailokanat (1448-1488) and once again by King Borommakot in 1741. Wat Phra Ram is a beautiful sight to behold, especially when its Khmer-style prang temple is reflected by the lotus-filled ponds of Bung Phra Ram. There are also many mythological images preserved in stucco on site.
