Whitley Bay in Colour
A collection of extreme colourful images taken of Whitley Bay which is a small seaside town in the North of England UK. The images were taken by Paul William Llewellyn Jones who is a local artist and photographer. Whitley Bay has changed over the decades and in its heyday in the 1900's right through to the late 1970's it was a very busy and popular holiday resort bringing in 1000's of family's every year from around the UK. That's all gone now and over the last 20 years or so the town has fallen down a little due to the holidaymakers who now want to holiday abroad. However, Whitley Bay still stands strong and always will do long after we have all gone. The fairground lights maybe switched off and last orders has been called on the holidaymakers but the town has still got it. Paul, who is a local resident and enthusiast has tried to capture in images the vibrant and colourful presence this small seaside town still has to offer. The images are available to purchase in A3 size on eBay - Whitley Bay in Colour.
Whitley Bay, UK
SEE MY HISTORY PAGE ON FACEBOOK :
Whitley Bay was famous for its permanent seaside fairground The Spanish City, which has now been demolished. A fairground returns to the town on bank holiday weekends, the Easter and summer holidays, but is now located on 'the Links', an expansive seafront park to the north of the original Spanish City site. The Spanish City Dome, which is a Grade II Listed building, is to become the centrepiece of a multimillion pound regeneration of the seafront complex, which will include hotel and leisure developments. Also in the town is St. Mary's Lighthouse. The Spanish City is the subject of the Dire Straits song Tunnel of Love, along with Whitley Bay and the nearby town Cullercoats.

Whitley Bay Boxing Day Swim 2012
A number of locations around the UK host midwinter swimming events -- not all of them are even on the coast -- and they seem to be growing in popularity through the twenty-first century. On Christmas Day there are events at Brighton, Bournemouth, Exmouth, Polkerris and Porthcawl; on Boxing Day try Liverpool's Albert Dock, Aberdeen's Nippy Dipper, Whitley Bay (shown here), Tenby, Redcar or Seaburn; at New Year Saundersfoot, Broughty Ferry or Clevedon. Some events have a competitive element but most are just a group of brave enthusiasts proving their hardiness!

Whitley Bay Sensation North Tyneside Council To Demolish Famous Whitley Bay Cafe
Whitley Bay. Save Whitley Bays Historic Boardwalk Cafe. Save and revamp the Boardwalk. Whitley Bay, North Tyneside.
North Tyneside has decided , without it appears local consultation to demolish in November 2014 the famous Boardwalk Café in Whitley Bay. There has bee a cafe on Watts Slope in Whitley Bay for the past 149 years . This iconic café, the Boardwalk café has wonderful unrivalled views of the famous Whitley Bay Beaches. North Tyneside Council who have spent millions over the last 20 year with the promise of finally refurbishing the famous Spanish City building, claim that the Boardwalk cafe is to be demolished to improve the view. Improve the view? What an insult, For more than 20 years the iconic Spanish City has been an un kept eyesore, despite swallowing millions in various grants to refurbish it, whilst generations have enjoyed the views and the hospitality at the Boardwalk cafe.. The whitley Bay Guardian has been innundated with North Tyneside Readers writing to the Whitley Bay Guardian to protest about this decision. .Indeed , North Tyneside labour Party has issued a leaflet where north Tyneside Labour Party has given its reasons for ther demolition. Of course, North Tyneside labour party has given a biased Labour view.Surely a case for North Tynesides Mayor to intervene and save this cafe and building for the people of Whitley Bay. What an insult, the view from this famous cafe, the Boardwalk Cafe , in Whitley Bay is arguably one if the finest views on the North East Coast, amazing views of St Mary's Lighthouse , St Mary's Island and wonderful sandy beaches of the Tyneside coast which for generations made Whitle Bay famous... . The whitley Bay Guardian has lots of letters protesting to the Whitley Bay Guardian to protest about this decision.
Instead of North Tyneside Council wasting even more money on the crumbling Spanish CIty, what finer inspirational building could you have for an artists colony? A Yoga Retreat? A Yoga and Health Food Centre. The whitley Bay Guardian has been innundated with North Tyneside Readers writing to the Whitley Bay Guardian to protest about this decision.
Use your imagination North Tyneside Council, STOP DESTROYING OUR HERITAGE... SAVE THE BOARDWALK tynemouth, whitley bay, whitley bay film festival, whitley bay online personals, whitley bay playhouse, whitley bay fc, cullercoats, holiday, regeneration, development, Tourism (Industry), st mary's lighthouse, Spanish City, north tyneside council, north tyneside mayor, beaches, north tyneside labour party, Whitley, Bay, north east

Day out at Whitley Bay (Newcastle)
Today we went for a day out at Whitley Bay. We had something to eat then went down to the beach rock collecting. Keep an eye out for my video of me painting some rock to hide outside for people to find.

Olympic torch Whitley Bay, part 1
I wanted to put all my media of the Olympic torch passing's, but i could not, so I had to put the 2 passing separate.
This was taken in Whitley Bay, Newcastle. this is some of the Olympic torch convoy, but because of Problems, I could only have parts separate, so I took the best parts (the 2 Olympic torch passing) and put it as 2 parts.
