Best Kyoto Sake & Food Tour | Fushimi District Best Sake In Japan
Want to experience a rock star tour of the world's greatest sake district? This is hands down the best food & drink tour we've ever done.
Kyoto is the historic capital of Japan -- The name 'Kyoto' literally translates to 'Capital City and this charming slice of old-school Japan offers a stunning range of cultural heirlooms and tasty traditions. The most notable of these traditions is arguably the craft of sake brewing; the bountiful underground springs in the precinct contain some of the purest waters on the planet, and the Japanese wasted no time in transforming this natural gift into the wondrous elixir known around the world as Sake. On this tour, you'll have a chance to sample around 25 different sakes while learning about the historic Fushimi district of Kyoto. You'll tour a 400-year-old brewery and dine at a traditional Japanese restaurant -- it doesn't get any more authentic or memorable than this.

EXPLORING KOFU CITY - YAMANASHI PREFECTURE????????
I'm lucky enough to be in Yamanashi Prefecture this week with the government on an official tour! Today I travelled to Kofu City where I had an amazing Soba lunch, followed by a wine tour + tasting at Sadoya Winery. We then headed to Koshuyumekouji which is a cute little shopping street, to try to famous Raisin Sandwich, made from the leftover grapes from the local wineries. We finished up the night with an amazing Kaiseki multi-course dinner at Kasugai Hotel & a relaxing outsoor onsen!

Explore Japan [Yahiko Village - Niigata Prefecture]
Located in central Niigata Prefecture and abutting the Sea of Japan, Yahiko Village is considered one of Japan's most sacred areas. According to legend, the great grandson of Shinto Japan's founding deity, Amaterasu-omikami, settled here. The god helped establish regional Echigo agriculture. Today, Yahiko Village is renowned for its rice, edamame, shiitake mushrooms and sake. Locally caught seafood is another delicious gourmet specialty. Major drawcards include Yahiko Shrine, Yahiko Park and Mount Yahiko (634 meters). The former is one of Japan's most significant shrines. Stately cedar trees, mature maples, blushing cherry blossoms and cheery chrysanthemums can all be found on its premises. The summit of Mount Yahiko is accessible by hiking trails or ropeway. Take in sweeping views of Sado Island and the Sea of Japan coastline on a clear day. Any hiking should be followed by a soak in one of the town's onsen or hot springs. Some are standalone. Others form part of traditional ryokan or inn lodgings. To reach Yahiko Village by train, take the JR Joetsu Shinkansen from Tokyo. Get off at Tsubame-sanjo Station and transfer to the JR Yahiko Line. Alternatively, travel from Niigata Station via the Echigo and Yahiko line, changing at Yoshida Station.

Trying my first Sake in a Takayama Brewery
Drinking sake can be quite a pleasant experience when done in the right place and environment.
The best place to buy Sake in Japan
Ever wondered how a sake brewery looks like from Inside. We explored one in Takayama. The deal was to taste 10 different type of Sake for 300 Yen. Since the brewary was closing in 10 minutes , it was a rapid fire drinking session. I just enjoyed it. Follow me on Sake brewery tour in Takayama , Japan. I personally like the Citrus Flavored Sake. This is mild and to be drink cold. try different type of Sake before buying. Funasaka sake brewery .
Takayama, with its picturesque mountain location, cold weather, top quality rice and pure mountain water, produces some of the best-tasting sake in Japan. This area has been famous for its sake production for over 400 years, with around 56 breweries at one time during the Edo Period (1603-1868). There are now six local traditional sake breweries still in operation scattered around the historic old town that offer you the chance to tour their facilities in winter and even indulge in some sake tasting.
The old part of town is called Sanmachi Suji and is a collection of three narrow lanes lined with Edo Period merchant houses. Here you will find the six traditional local sake breweries Hirata (平田), Harada (原田), Kawashiri (川尻), Niki (二木), Hirase (平瀬) and Tanabe (田邊). They are easily recognisable with their sugidama (special balls made of cedar branches), hanging over the entrance and traditional sakadaru (sake barrels) out the front. The sugidama cedar balls are an indication to how the sake is maturing. A green cedar ball indicates that the sake has just been freshly made, while a brown cedar ball indicates that the sake has matured and is now ready to be consumed.
The sake breweries are always open to visitors, so you are welcome to enter and sample some of their great tasting products. Most offer free sake tasting and are typically open from around 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Hirase is the oldest sake brewery in Takayama, and is famous for its “kusudama” sake which is popular for its clear taste. Funasaka Sake Brewery proactively develops new tastes of sake while keeping its tradition. My favourite is Harada Sake Brewery, where for only 100 yen you can buy an ochoko (sake cup) and sample around 12-14 of their sake from a fridge. The ochoko makes a nice souvenir to take home of your visit to Takayama.
