The 1.4 mile (roundtrip) Wonderland Trail in Acadia National Park on Mount Desert Island, Maine is filled with fantasy type settings unique to this area so take your time while walking so you won't miss them. Once at the ocean, there are several spots to sit and enjoy, each providing its own special view. So, be sure to take along a nice picnic lunch. I Failed the Wonderland Trail Thru Hike
What the world needs is hope and healing one step at a time.
My friend and I have been training and planning for this 93 mi trek around the Wonderland Trail for 6 months. The first leg of the trek was Sunrise to Summerland. My first night did me in, I threw up my hands in despair, because of the incessant rain and cold. I was very grateful that miraculously we got cell service on the mountain at the Summerland camp. My friends mom was able to rescue me off the mountain and I will forever be grateful to her for that. I am not defeated though because I WILL hike this trail sometime. It is a massively beautiful trail and knowing how I love wildflowers I want to come when they are blooming. Sooooo Lord willing I will try again.

BLACKWOODS CAMPGROUND
A review of Blackwoods Campground in Acadia National Park. The campground is one of two, the other being Seawall Campground, that is run by ANP. A short distance from the campground is a general store, as well as hot showers across the road from the campground. There is usually a pile of free split firewood as well. A service road which bikers and walkers can use, connects the campground to Ocean Drive, where within minutes from your campsite you can be standing on high cliffs overlooking the ocean.
Ocean Path - Acadia National Park Trail
This was taken while walking by the ocean on the last day of my vacation July 19, 2014. This is the first video I successfully made using a phone. I was in a hurry making this one because the one I spent 45 minutes making while going the opposite direction on the path did not record. I'm pleased with this video because it reminds me of this awesome day at Acadia Park, makes me feel like I'm right there again enjoying the best of both worlds hiking and the ocean.

Hiking the Acadia Mountain Trail (and a thick fog)
September is my favorite month for hiking. Summer crowds are gone (for the most part.) It’s cooler, but not too cold at night for tent camping. Time to leave your own backyard and explore some places that you’ve been meaning to visit.
I last visited Acadia NP 5 years ago. Like about 95% of the people who visit there, I drove the Park Loop Road to Cadillac Mt, took some photos, and then drove to Bar Harbor for some seafood. This time I wanted to spend some time there and see what I missed earlier.
This video is of the most direct route to Acadia Mt, the Acadia Mt trail. Not the tallest mountain in the park and not the most popular. It's not accessible from the Park Loop Road but is on the western side of Somes Sound, the less traveled side of Mt Desert Island. The trail leading to the summit encounters some steep rock formations and not the usual boulder field. And when I reached the top, I was treated to some thick fog which occluded views of the Sound. But it added to the beauty of the place. A great early Saturday morning hike!

Hiking at Wonderland (exploring the Maine coastline)
Rather secluded rock beach on the far south side of Mt Desert Island in Maine. The area is called Wonderland and the trail that roughly follows the shoreline is an offshoot of the Wonderland trail which seemingly goes on forever (I never found the end of it.) And there is a maze of trails that intersect Wonderland. You can hike the trail or wander off the trail to the shoreline with its many pathways.
