【NHK 龍馬最後の30日 ロケ地】Yokokan Japanese garden Fukui 福井市 養浩館庭園
NHK特集「龍馬最後の30日」のロケ地ともなった福井市の養浩館庭園。坂本龍馬と松平春嶽が茶を飲みながら対談するシーンなどで登場する。
Yokokan garden is located in Fukui,Japan. The garden is a Kaiyu-shiki-rinsen-teien, a strolling style landscape garden with a pond in the center. It's chosen as 3rd place of continuation for 3 years from 2008 in Japanese garden rank of an American garden specialized magazine The Journal of Japanese Gardening announcement.
福井市にある名勝養浩館庭園は、福井藩主松平家の別邸だったところ。回遊式林泉庭園で米国の庭園専門誌「ジャーナル・オブ・ジャパニーズ・ガーデニング」の「日本庭園ランキング」において2008年から3年連続3位に選出。

3月10日と11日の夜限定の養浩館庭園のライトアップを見に行ってきました。とってもキレイでした！養浩館庭園は福井市の中心部にあります。江戸時代の福井藩主・松平家の別邸でした。その優美な建物と庭園は、江戸中期を代表するもので、アメリカの庭園専門誌が選ぶ「日本庭園ランキング」では常に上位に入っています。
I went to the Yokokan Garden. It was first time to see lit up! It was amazing! Yokokan Garden is located in the center of Fukui City. It was a secondary residence of the Matsudaira clan, lords of the Fukui Domain. The combination of the villa’s graceful architecture and its exquisite garden is the best representation of gardens made in the 18C. It has constantly placed highly in the Japanese garden rankings published by an American gardening magazine.

First built in 1606, the area around Fukui Castle once flourished due to the Echizen-Matsudaira clan. At the time, the famous castle had a height of 37m and a castle tower with four levels and five floors, but it was burned down in a great fire. Currently, the prefectural government offices are built on the site with the surviving stone walls and moat showing what it was like back in the day.

Travel around Fukui & Kanazawa in Japan. - 福井と金沢
Before the end of 2014 I went on a little adventure to Fukui福井 and Kanazawa金沢 in Japan.
I didn't see much of Fukui in the end, but I did go to a Japanese garden in Kanazawa called Kenrokuen (兼六園).
and I saw Kanazawa Castle ().
The castle was pretty scary, with dark clouds and many crows near to the castle itself. I enjoyed both the garden and the castle, but you do have to pay to enter either of them.
One of my favourite parts of Kanazawa, would actually be the train station, as the architecture in front of the East exit is impressive.

A night walk in Yokokan Garden
Yokokan Garden in Fukui City is lighted up in autumn, from September to November. I went there early in November 2014, and enjoyed the fantastic views different from daytime.

Walking around the places associated with Kimimasa Yuri [PR for Fukui]
Kimimasa Yuri was born in the present Fukui City and contributed to the fiscal reconstruction of Fukui Domain from the late Edo Period to the Meiji Period. In the new Meiji government, he made a draft of the Charter Oath of Five Articles, which was set out the basic policy of government. And he played a large role for the foundation of the financial base and issued the first bills of the new government. Recently, the square of Kimimasa Yuri was completed at the foot of Saiwai Bridge crossing the Asuwa River.

A Slice of Tranquility Osensui ~Yokokan Garden~
Yokokan garden is located in Fukui City, the capital of the Fukui Prefecture in central Japan.
Yokokan Garden that used to be called Osensui Yashiki was a villa owed by the Matsudaira clan, lord of the Fukui Domain. The graceful shoin-style architecture and the exquisite garden became known as the masterpiece of gardens made in the mid Edo period (1603-1868).
It has constantly received prestigious awards in the Journal of Japanese Gardening, published in America.
