Pacific Coast Highway SUNSET SCENIC DRIVE 4K - Malibu to Zuma Beach then to Kanan Rd
Is there anything more magical than driving along the PCH at sunset? We start out once again by the iconic Malibu Pier, making our way toward Zuma Beach. From there, we’ll u-turn to head back along the coast once more until we hit Kanan Road, where we’ll make that turn and drive North until finishing at the 101 freeway entrance.
This gorgeous drive never gets old.

It has a completely different vibe from Santa Monica or like Venice Beach. It’s got a more local atmosphere and is just so beautiful surrounded by million dollar mansions that I can’t afford! Lol

NILE - performing MALIBU - recorded at Trancas Resturant, Malibu Calif approx 1980
NILE - performing MALIBU (song by Michael Nile) - recorded at Trancas Resturant, Malibu Calif approx 1980
This vintage recording was salvaged from an old VHS video tape. It is presented here for historic purposes only. I shot the video of the band performing and the 'wild' footage of Malibu beach, with early consumer level home video equiptment. Unfortunately, I had no editing equiptment, so this attempt to edit the video was done with two VHS decks connected to each other with RCA type cables. This slam editing resulted in the rainbowing roll in the frame at the point of many (or most) of the cuts.
The group had several original songs and were shopping the act around town at the time. I loved all of the music the band produced. Malibu is one of my Top Favorites though. I became good friends with Jet Foxx, the band's drummer and resident clown, for some time after. Jet, an amazingly talented percussionist, performed on several songs for a music demo of mine a few months after this was recorded.
(Note: About a year after this was shot Mike Nile became the replacement bassist for super group Spirit and toured the world with the band. Afterward, I understand he first settled in the Malibu Canyon hills to write and produce music but eventually relocated to Colorado). I hope I hear from old fans of NILE and especially from members of the group, James Bubba Manley (the guitarist), Kari (keyboards & lead singer), Steve Duffy Fitzpatrick (keyboards), Jethro Jet Foxx (percussionist par excellence!) and the main man himself Mike Nile.
