Green River Trip, July 13-15, 2017
Our group paddled 38 miles in a record 2 days along Green River in Kentucky. We began our journey at the put-in at Munfordville, KY and took out at Houchin's Ferry inside Mammoth Caves National Park. Wildlife seen: multiple turtles, beavers, deer, and plenty of fish. As a heads up to any potential kayakers and canoers after 2017: The lock and dam #6 near Brownsville, KY has been removed. Expect the last 10 miles to be roughly 6-9 feet lower than ever before. Also expect until the campground at Houchin's Ferry figures something out to climb roughly 10 feet in a foot of silty, stinky mud to the old concrete ramp pad. Bring rope to pull your canoe/kayak out of the river, and use the two water spigots at the camp ground to rinse off all the mud!
