Agdz (pronounced Agdaz) is just 2km from the main road that takes tourists from Marrakesh & Ouarzazate to the desert. Yet few make the short detour to check it out. It seems a lack of attention has meant that Agdz has maintained an authentic aura to it.

Morocco Travel Attractions - Tour of Ait Benhaddou
Take a tour of Ait Benhaddou in Morocco -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats.
The fortified city in the old section of Ait Benhaddou is a Moroccan wonder.
The worn red buildings give a glimpse into ancient life in Morocco's deserts.
The kasbahs of the old town are sparsely inhabited, leaving it mostly open for visitors.
Unfortunately, its position in the terrain leaves it vulnerable to flooding during each heavy rain.
The ancient city is just a short walk through a shallow stream from the modern section of Ait Benhaddou.
Walking the silent, sun-baked streets of this archaic, walled city is an unforgettable experience.
Morocco: Ait Benhaddou, Agdz and Gorges du Todra
Aït Benhaddou is a 'fortified city' along the former caravan route between the Sahara and Marrakech in present-day Morocco. Aït Benhaddou has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987 and several films have been shot there.
Agdz which means resting place is located on the old caravan route linking Marrakech to Timbuktu. The lively market is held weekly on Thursdays.
Gorges du Todra. The final 600 m of the Todra gorge are the most spectacular as the canyon narrows to a flat stony track as little as 10m wide in places, with sheer and smooth rock walls up to 160 m high on each side.

On the Edge of Sahara - Ait Ben Haddou, Morocco
Ait-Ben-Haddou - UNESCO World Heritage Site. It's a fortified village along the former caravan route between Sahara and Marrakesh. Gladiator and two dozen other famous films were shot there. Only four families are still living in this ancient village.

Ait-Ben-Haddou, Morocco in 4K (Ultra HD)
Ait-Ben-Haddou is fortified city (Ksar) in Ouarzazate province of Morocco. Listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site as striking example of the architecture of southern Morocco and an extraordinary ensemble of buildings offering a complete panorama of pre-Saharan earthen construction techniques. Many movies have been shot on site, like 'Lawrence of Arabia', 'Gladiator', 'The Mummy', 'The Last Temptation of Christ', 'Kundun', 'Alexander', 'Kingdom of Heaven', 'Babel', 'Game of Thrones', etc.
