RV Travel Life | Canyon Lake, TX to Carlsbad, NM
In this episode we show you our road from Canyon Lake, TX to Carlsbad, NM. We weighed the RV (using a CAT scale) and found that we were a little overweight, so we ended up letting go of all of our fresh water in our tank.
We boondocked overnight in the Fort Stockton, Walmart, where we encountered a rather strange fellow. He was tent camping in the parking lot which we were not scared of, but it made us nervous he would get hit by a car.
Bullet is getting calmer every time we travel and we think the bedding and toy has helped out a lot!
While we were driving from Fort Stockton, TX to Carlsbad, NM Laura's bike fell off the roof of our truck. The fork of the bicycle where it locks into the thule bike rack on the roof twisted and completely detached itself. There was no evidence of any issues with the bike rack, just the fork itself. Since we have only had the bike since October, we are going to try to contact Cannondale and see if they can get us a new fork for the bike. This was a recall shortly before we left on this big adventure, but the bike shop we purchased from in Kansas City told us that they had already replaced the faulty part. We are not sure if this was part of that recall or not. It is a Cannondale Quick 4 2017 Women's, in turquoise.
We arrived in Carlsbad just in time to find an RV Park before the winds kicked up and warnings started being issued. We are so happy we left 1 day early or we would have been driving in the crazy winds.
Hey guys! We decided to leave a day early so we could possibly swing by Big Bend on the way out! Sorry it has been a couple days, our computer hard drive is getting upgraded and then we can finish the last Canyon Lake Video! We're hoping the hard drive is done by tonight. More videos coming soon!

The Real Bears of East Texas
An animal that was almost wiped out due to unregulated hunting, and loss of habitat, the black bear is slowly making its way back to the bottomland forests along the states eastern border. Now a team of bear trackers from Stephen F. Austin State University are on the lookout. It’s a unique bear study that sends the team into some of the most remote habitat found in the state.
Wild Things: Turtles and Roads
Many folks find turtles crossing busy roads and wonder “What’s the right thing to do?” State Herpetologist Andy Gluesenkamp helps answer that question.
The Spring Trackers
We know a lot about the major springs in Texas, but very little about the estimated 3500 scattered around the state. Biologists Chad Norris and Janet Nelson trek to remote spring sites gathering a variety of information that will provide a greater understanding of one of our most important sources of freshwater.
Palo Duro Canyon State Park
Way, way, way up in the Texas Panhandle lies Palo Duro, the second largest canyon in the country (guess what’s first?). With its truly breathtaking scenery, Palo Duro is also one of our most popular parks. On this weekend, hundreds of cyclists come to ride 24 hours in the canyon, all in memoriam to friends or family members lost to cancer.
Postcard From Texas
It can be difficult to get all of your ducks in a row. But at Hornsby Bend in Austin, sometimes they line up all by themselves.
