Bac Ninh Province, Vietnam
I'm not 100% sure this is Bac Ninh Province, but that's my best guess. This is just one of the many boomtowns between Hanoi and the coast. (2012)
Explore Tam Coc in the rice season
The best time to visit Tam Coc in Ninh Binh, Vietnam is perhaps during the rice season in June. With limestone outcrops amid serene rice paddies, Tam Coc - Ninh Binh is best appreciated on a languorous rowing-boat ride, with the soundtrack of the river lapping against the oars.

Bac Ha Vietnam 2017
Bac Ha is the most beautiful and interesting place to visit in North Vietnam.
Markets full of colorful ethnic tribes people. Can Cau Saturday market was my favorite and is a must see.
I stayed at the Ngan Nga Hotel which is spotlessly clean and serves the best food in town.. The manager Mr Dong speaks good English and he is very helpful.
The scenery around Bac Ha is stunning. Bac Ha is about an 8 hour bus ride from Hanoi. 3 hours from Sapa.

Art Thomya, a Thai singer/songwriter, will show you an amazing place to stay in the most serene part of Northern Vietnam - Halong and Yen Tu Mountain.
Yen Tu Mountain is one of the highest peaks in Northeastern Vietnam, located within Quang Ninh Province. Besides being a famous natural landscape, Yen Tu preserves numerous historical relics and is also known as “The cradle of Buddhism in Vietnam”.
From Hanoi, tourists may get to Yen Tu by shuttle bus, car, or motorbike. If you are about to board a Halong Cruise, an extra day to Yen Tu would be perfect for your trip as it is just 90 minutes away from Halong.
Legends said that, in the 13th century, there was a King named King Tran Nhan Tong who stepped down his throne to become a monk and built a temple on this mountain. You will see sacred places which were created to worship King Tran Nhan Tong.
Climbing up a mountain, you will be amidst white clouds and feel like you're in heaven. At the peak, you will enjoy a panorama view of Halong Bay on a clear sky day. Well, today, I am happy enjoying the fogs and the clouds.
The unique experience of this trip is where I stay. Here I am at the spectacular Legacy Yen Tu - MGallery by Sofitel. The location is just at the bottom of Yen Tu Mountain and close to local villages. This architecture is inspired by the 13th century Vietnam. I feel like I travelled back to the past.
Designed by Bill Bensley, a creator of many of the world's iconic hotels, this place will get you mesmerised by its boutique decors. Apart from its physical charms, you will feel the calmness, so I think it is such a great place to rejuvenate and restore yourself. As this is a centre of Buddhism in Northern Vietnam, there is a meditation class for you to practice your mind and soul.

Phu Lang Pottery Village in Bac Ninh Vietnam
Phu Lang Pottery Village is located in Phu Lang Commune, Que Vo District, Bac Ninh Province, around 60km from the north of Hanoi.
Unlike the ceramic products made from the white clay of Bat Trang (Hanoi), the Phu Lang pottery is made from the light-pink clay taken from the areas of Thong Vat, Cung Khiem. The Phu Lang potteries are covered by the special glazes which are named interestingly such as stone crab, eel’s skin, etc. The ingredients to make the glaze are also unique, including ash trees, slaked lime, crushed pebbles, and alluvial white mud. After the initial processing, these four ingredients are mixed in a certain proportion and then left dry and broken into pieces to add to water.
The next steps are about filtering and processing into the liquid and yellow substance. When the ceramic product is still wet, ceramists will use a brush to coat a thin glaze layer on the cover of the product and leave it dry. Besides creating the unique glaze, Phu Lang Pottery also has the distinct characteristics thanks to the techniques of firewood heating. They use the varied heat generation to create extraordinary traits of the ceramic surface that no other heating technique can do the same. After the steps of glazing and painting with colors, the ceramic products are put into the kiln of 1.000 Celsius degree for the continuous heating of 3 days 3 nights.
The local potteries have three predominant types: (1) products for worshipping (censers); (2) products for household goods (pots, vases, pipe tubes, etc.); and (3) aesthetic fine-art ceramics (jars, pots with the animal patterns like elephants, horses, etc.)
Travel to Phu Lang Village in Bac Ninh to discover how the ceramists produce the masterpieces in traditional ways!
