We visited cities such as Malaga, Torremolinos, Seville, Montilla, Baena, Granada, Ronda, Cordoba, Nerja, Frigiliana and took a road trip on the white hill towns on route to our final destination in the old town of Arcos de la Frontera.

More info about travel to Arcos de la Frontera: The route of the Pueblos Blancos, or white towns, is a charm bracelet of characteristic towns perched in the hills and mountains of Andalucía. The queen of the hill towns, Arcos de la Frontera, smothers its hilltop and tumbles down its back like the train of a wedding dress. Towns with de la Frontera in their names, like Arcos, were established on the frontier during the battle to reclaim Spain from the Muslims. As the Moors retreated into Northern Africa, the frontier towns, though no longer on the frontier, kept the de la Frontera as part of their names. Spain Trip 2017 #20 Ubeda
Of Ubeda’s many charming squares, Plaza Vasquez de Molina is the most impressive. At one end is the Sacra Capilla de el Salvador, a 16th c. funerary chapel with a beautifully decorated interior. The plaza’s hedgerows lead past two fine Renaissance palaces, Palacio del Dean Ortega (now a Parador hotel) and Palacio de Juan Vasquez de Molina, flanked by lion statues. On the other side of the plaza is the Collegiate Church of Santa Maria de los Reales Alcazares, dating to the 13th century. In the bustling center of town is Plaza de Andalucia with a more contemporary fountain. Flower-bedecked balconies line the narrow streets leading to the churches of San Pedro and Santo Domingo, as well as the Monastery of Santa Clara where we purchased some cookies from the nuns (note the photo later of the turnstile). The video ends with a series of photos taken by my wife, Pam.

Holy Week in Malaga, is an ancient tradition that dates back to the age of the Catholic Monarchs. The city of Malaga is the capital city of the Costa del Sol and is located in Andalusia, the south of Spain, a land that perfectly combines modernity and tradition in the middle of the 21st Century. The most famous of these traditions is, undoubtedly, its well-known Holy Week of Malaga
Holy Week in Malaga, is very different to that celebrated in other Andalusians or Spanish places, and those who go to Malaga for the first time will be surprised, as the Passion Week there is not lived with meditation and silence, but it is full of happiness, noise, cheer, spontaneous saetas (flamenco verses sung at the processions) and applauses as the images pass by.
Some tronos (floats) of Holy Week of Malaga, are so huge that they must be housed in other places different form the churches, as they are taller than the entrance doors; real walking chapels of over 5,000 kilos swung by dozens of bearers. And also military parades playing processional marches or singing their anthems along the route. All this do not imply a lack of religiosity, but it is just the particular way that people from Malaga live their faith and feeling during the Holy Week.
