El Caminito del Rey, El Chorro, Spain, Re-opened March 2015
Read the blog of our visit at:
The Caminito de Rey (The King's Little Walkway) runs for over three kilometres some 100 metres above the Guadalhorce River in the Desfiladero del los Gaitanes Gorge near the village of El Chorro, north west of Málaga. Finished in 1906, it was constructed to service a channel and numerous sluice gates connected to the Salto de Chorro hydroelectric plant. Its royal association came when El Chorro Dam was inaugurated by King Alfonso XIII who walked the pathway in 1921. Once considered to be the scariest and most dangerous pathway in the world, it was closed to the public for safety reasons in 2000 following several fatal accidents.
But not anymore. At the of March 2015, the first tourists traversed an impressive new boardwalk installed at a cost of 2.7 million, mostly constructed right above the crumbling old concrete walkway. Tourists are given a hard helmet which must be worn at all times on the linear route which totals approximately 7.7 km, divided into 4.8 km long access ways and 2.9 km long boardwalks. A reasonable level of fitness is required; allow around 4.5-5 hours to complete the walk. Coaches run between the north and south ends of the gorge for a modest price. Groups of 50 people are allowed to enter the walkway every half an hour and we were among the lucky ones who managed to obtain free tickets on offer for only the first six months.
Billed as one of the top new travel experiences by Lonely Planet for 2015 will do much to ensure the popularity of El Caminito del Rey. Although via ferrate climbers and thrill seekers will lament the loss of one of their most risqué adventure playgrounds, those looking for a bit of excitement will doubtless find this just the ticket. If they can get hold of one!

The World's Most Dangerous Hike - El Caminito Del Rey
In this action packed episode of our road trip through Spain, we hop on a boat tour in Barbate, and then drive to El Caminito Del Rey, where we hiked the infamous El Chorro also known as the death hike (honestly, go google it). After a good nights rest we drove to Malaga to learn how to dodge a bull in the ring, then explored a movie set in Almeria where they used to film old spaghetti western movies!
Note on Bull Fighting:
Our team had a very unique opportunity to visit a bullfighting school and learn about the history of the Corrida De Torros. This isn't something that tourists can pay and do. The young men who live and train to become professional bullfighters are part of a cultural tradition that has been around for over a thousand years, a tradition that is very controversial. No animals were harmed in the making of this video.

OPEN TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THIS PLACE!
Hey guys! Welcome back to my channel!
So this video is from back in December of last year.
On the day after christmas my dad took me and my sisters to the 'Caminito del rey' (in english this means 'the king's path'). It's a recently opened tourist attraction in Málaga (Spain). This is by far one of the most beautiful places I've been to! It's basically an abandoned path that not long ago was a climber's playground. Now it has been turned into a safe trail for people to walk on.
I was not planning to upload this video. To be honest, the shots I took are not as amazing as they could be... It was the day after christmas so I was just testing out my new camera lens... Buuut, I think the video is good enough to give you an idea of the beauty of this place.. So I eventually decided to uploaded it :D
Hope you enjoy! And have a beautiful day!
xoxo
Adriana
Ps.: get excited for the video that I'll be uploading this Friday! It's my best one yet!! :D

Very few people make it all the way down here, so you are a special person! ✨
Hi!! I'm Adriana! Welcome to my channel! I was born in the US (mom is American) and have lived in Spain my entire life (dad is Spanish). But I wish I were asian lol. I watch Bollywood movies, Korean drama and Japanese cartoons. Asian cultures fascinate me! I taught myself to do henna, and I'm very interested in buddhism! Actually, I travel to Nepal every summer and volunteer at a buddhist monastery! Oh! And the monks at this monastery speak Tibetan, so I've also been learning Tibetan for the past four years!
On this channel talk about travel and Asia (pretty obvious by now haha), and also create fashion lookbooks! I also love giving tips based on my experiences :) Hope you enjoy my videos!

CAMINITO DEL REY - Dangerous Hike in Spain
Are you afraid of heights? Spain's Caminito del Rey is a 100+ year old path that's 350 feet high and falling apart. Hiked March 2014. Some call it the most dangerous walkway in the world. However it recently re-opened to the public after a restoration.
