Fontaine Saint-Michel Forcalquier France
This is a very famous, ancient public fountain, a source of water for a long time for the people of Forcalquier, France, the city of four queens.
The basin was changed from octagonal to circular long ago, but the rest of the fountain is in pretty good shape despite the fact that it's perhaps 500 years old or so, give or take a bit.
It shows what are politely called childish games but which are in fact pretty overt obscene activities.
Forcalquier is in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence département, and boasts the largest market in the entire region every Monday morning. The rest of the week there are usually small specialty greenmarkets in front of the Hôtel de Ville (city hall). This Medieval city with ancient roots and vestiges was great for me, as I was staying in a rural cite in Dauphin about 10 km away and the services and goods I needed were always here in this town daily. Provence is a highly popular region of France, famous for its blue skies, sun, lovely produce and colors. This is not very far from the Mediterranean sea and also has mountains (Alps, Lubéron, Alpilles, etc.) here.

NOTRE DAME DE VIE IN LURS FRANCE
It is not that unusual to find a place called this, but this is really a striking place in the Provence area of France the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence département. The silence here is on a Tuesday morning and is very typical. If you see a donkey a few miles away you are likely able to hear its hooves. There is also almost no light pollution here so night stargazing is superb and there is an important observatory not far away. I rented a house in Dauphin for a week and loved it.
Lurs has a connect with the Dominici Affair, so true crime fans take note.
This chapel was closed but is at the end of the famous Bishops' Walk. This region is very good for hiking, donkey or horse riding. This is in the Alps but not far from the Lubéron and close to the Mediterranean sea, so this is really a lovely part of France, my new home from the USA. The USA let me down so I had to leave. What a blessing to have France as the new place. And Italy is not far away. Blessings abound.
Yes, the silence you hear in this clip is normal for a weekday morning here. Cicadas and crickets are not uncommon in hot weather but it depends from year to year. The scent of lavender is in the air and grapes were on the vine and just about ready for harvest. Lurs is a really small village where you can rent a gîte but there currently isn't a café and I only saw one art shop and a bookstore but they were both closed. This is one of France's many book towns, however, and there is an ancient ampitheatre here which holds wonderful events. This is a village where literacy, paper, binding, printing, reading, writing and telling stories are officially part of their culture. They love books here and in similar towns and villages in France, which also happen to attract writers.
I lived in NYC for 17 years before settling in Paris and used to be very frustrated I could not pursue my writing and artwork as I'd wanted to, there. France is a wonderful, thoughtful place to think and create.

La Baule Beach
A short clip of the day my family and I had at la Baule beach, situated on the western coast of France.
As you can see, La Baule is a beautiful sandy beach with plenty of space even on the hottest days, it was really hot the day I went, safe swimming areas with lifeguards on watch.
