Playa Bejuco, Costa Rica - Adventure Guru
I was fortunate enough to live in this tiny beach town just 30 minutes south of Jaco, Costa Rica and 30 minutes north of Manuel Antonio (the most visited National Park in Costa Rica).
All year long (minus the week of Christmas and the week of Easter) this beach town is sleepy and empty. Tide dependent, you can walk/run for over 10 miles straight! There is even a local estuary/mangrove that you can kayak through.
The waves are much bigger than they look from the shore, and the rip tides are pretty fuerte. I've had to pull out more than one tourist who got in over their head.
That being said, at low tide, natural warm pools are created. It's like hundreds of baths because it's just deep enough to sit in and the already toasty water gets even warmer when trapped in the divet.
The Pelicano is a hotel just 2 miles walk north on the beach and it has the best food in the area. :)
ADA: There is a dirt road that flanks the beach that is fairly chair-friendly, however, there are no mats or other access to the water. There is, however a hotel just 200 feet to the south (Del Fin) that is beachfront and has a bar and pool that is paved.

5 Best Beaches in Mexico
In terms of numbers, Mexico is the most popular expat destination for North Americans in the world. And it’s no wonder why. With over 5,800 miles of coastline on the Caribbean, Gulf of Mexico and Pacific, there are no shortage of postcard worthy, powdery, white-sand beaches in Mexico.
But, what constitutes a great beach is different for everybody. Some like quiet natural beauty, where the only sound is the breaking waves and the only other visitors are seagulls. For surfers it means that perfect break. For others, the perfect day at the beach requires a lounger, umbrella, a good book, and a waiter bringing a steady stream of cold drinks and appetizers.
Here we explore a small portion of the many wonderful beaches in Mexico, with a focus on those that are easy to access, have places to stay nearby, and overall offer a great experience. From places of solitude to bustling scenes where beach bars and restaurants line the sand, we have you covered.
