PuH-SODE 10: PADUCAH, KY
The countless roadside billboards had our curiosity running rabid. What kind of masterpieces may be housed in the world famous National Quilt Museum? We couldn't miss the opportunity to find out, so we took the exit and headed towards the beautiful river town of Paducah, KY. After a walk along the history of this great, American town, and witnessing a levitating man, we headed to the pride and joy of Paducah: the national quilt museum. After wooing the receptionist, it was off to another VIP tour from the CEO himself. Seeing the most prestigious threads from all around the world, left us in an artistic trance and contemplating whether quilt sewing may be our true calling. After a multi-hour stay we waved goodbye to our new friends.

About Danville, Kentucky
30 years ago I wanted a bit more for my family so I looked in several states for a good value in a horse farm somewhere -- now I know it sounds kind of hokey, but I wanted a small, nice town where we can raise a family safely - where everyone knows your name.
With all the rolling hills of Kentucky - with scenery like Scotland and Tuscany and the million dollar horse farms we have here -- and the historic bourbon distilleries, and the vineyards right here in the bluegrass region of Kentucky, I knew this was the place that we need to look into.
As I looked deeper into the area, I found this area to be a place with a high quality of life, with gentle people, close to shopping, colleges, golf courses, lakes, and antiques shops. We love wine and antiques - and all that stuff that we all want for our lifestyle. But that brings me back what I really needed for my family. I simply wanted 5 acres and independence. What I really needed was high-speed and FedEx delivery rest is gravy.
So with that in mind, we took a look more in-depth for a great community and we found Boyle County, Kentucky. For us, we just needed a place to have a horse or two, raise to beef, have an herb garden - a place I can raise a family and feel safe. A place that wasn't too cold, a place that was a good value, a place that is business friendly and that's why I live here.
I also knew that it was better to buy a wonderful property at a fair price, than a fair property and wonderful price. I get lots of calls from people just looking for just cheap land, but that's not what we're all about here.
We have good land value. It's not expensive -- our land is a good value.
I remember looking at inexpensive land a few counties away from here 30 years ago that was $200 an acre. I was less than impressed at the quality or value. You can still buy that land for just $1000 an acre today - so it went up five times -- those land prices went up from $200 dollars per acre to $2000/acre.
In that same timeframe the land we have here Boyle County was $600 per acre - now that same land goes for $5,000 to $8,500 acre in large tracks so those land prices went up 10 to 15 times.
It didn't take long to figure out that so-so property stays so-so. But good land always gets better -- enough preaching -- that's a decision you have to make.
You will want to get our mailing list -- no, we don't share our list with anyone -- it is just us here.
We send out a newsletter with information on the immediate area and info on our listings. Send me an email of what you want to see. We have properties from $2.5 million to $25,000 - tell me what you want and I just may have it.
I also work with a select few agents in the area and they can find it.
Come for site visit explore the gorgeous rolling farm land, the Kentucky Bourbon distilleries, the wineries, the Bourbon Trail, horse farms, lakes, -- I could go on and on.
Call me on my cell anytime 859-319-5000 or you can call Ken 859-494-5521 and we can discuss your needs.
If you think you'll like the area - we have great weather, our cost of living is very low and our quality life is very high. Sales.com - it's been a pleasure.

THE WORLD'S MOST HAUNTED PLACE! | Waverly Hills Sanatorium Paranormal Tour
(Louisville, Kentucky) Producing my first documentary at THE Waverly Hills Sanatorium!.....Don't miss what we're up to next, HIT SUBSCRIBE to keep up! Aerial Views and Ghost Hunting at Waverly Hills Sanatorium, known by many as One of The MOST HAUNTED PLACES ON EARTH. Waverly is known world wide to be FULL of History & Paranormal Activity...
The Waverly Hills Sanatorium is a closed sanatorium located in southwestern Louisville/Jefferson County, Kentucky. It opened in 1910 as a two-story hospital to accommodate 40 to 50 tuberculosis patients. In the early 1900s, Jefferson County was ravaged by an outbreak of tuberculosis (the White Plague) which prompted the construction of a new hospital. The hospital closed in 1961, due to the antibiotic drug streptomycin that lowered the need for such a hospital.
Waverly Hills has been popularized on the television show Ghost Hunters as being one of the most haunted hospitals in the eastern United States. The sanatorium was featured on ABC/FOX Family Channel's Scariest Places On Earth, VH1's Celebrity Paranormal Project, Syfy's Ghost Hunters, Zone Reality's Creepy, the British show Most Haunted, Paranormal Challenge and Ghost Adventures on Travel Channel. Also popularizing Waverly Hills was the film Spooked: The Ghosts of Waverly Hills Sanatorium, released in 2006, which purports to document paranormal sightings at the site
Plans have been developed to convert the sanatorium into a hotel and conference center.
HISTORY:
The land that is today known as Waverly Hill was purchased by Major Thomas H. Hays in 1883 as the Hays' family home. Since the new home was far away from any existing schools, Mr. Hays decided to open a local school for his daughters to attend. He started a one-room schoolhouse on Pages Lane and hired Lizzie Lee Harris as the teacher. Due to Miss Harris' fondness for Walter Scott's Waverley novels, she named the schoolhouse Waverly School. Major Hays liked the peaceful-sounding name, so he named his property Waverley Hill. The Board of Tuberculosis Hospital kept the name when they bought the land and opened the sanatorium. It is not known exactly when the spelling changed to exclude the second e and became Waverly Hills. However the spelling fluctuated between both spellings many times over the years.
EXPLORATION:
One of the legends told of Waverly Hills involves a man in a white coat who has been seen walking in the kitchen and the smell of cooking food that sometimes wafts through the room. During their initial visit, they found the kitchen was a disaster, a ruin of broken windows, fallen plaster, broken tables and chairs and puddles of water and debris that resulted from a leaking roof. The cafeteria had not fared much better. It was also in ruins and the team quickly retreated. Before they could do so though, several of them reported the sounds of footsteps, a door swinging shut and the smell of fresh baked bread in the air. A quick search revealed that no one else was in the building and there was certainly no one cooking anything in the kitchen. They could come up with no logical explanation for what had occurred.
Ghost researchers are always drawn to the fifth floor of the former hospital. The fifth floor consisted of two nurses’ stations, a pantry, a linen room, medicine room and two medium-sized rooms on both sides of the two nurses’ stations. One of these, Room 502, is the subject of many rumors and legends and just about every curiosity-seeker that had broken into Waverly Hills over the years wanted to see it. This is where, according to the stories, people have jumped to their deaths, have seen shapes moving in the windows and have heard disembodied voices that order trespassers to “get out”.
There is a lot of speculation as to what went on in this part of the hospital but what is believed is that mentally insane tuberculosis patients were housed on the fifth floor. This kept them far away from the rest of the patients in the hospital but still in an area where they could benefit from the fresh air and sunshine. This floor is actually centered in the middle of the hospital and the two wards, extending out from the nurses’ station, is glassed in on all sides and opens out onto a patio-type roof. The patients were isolated on either side of the nurses’ stations and they had to go to a half door at each station to get their food and medicine and to use the restroom, which was located adjacent to the station.

Organic Farm Sustainable Farming Danville Kentucky homes and land
Get on our VIP List to know of new properties - Call Ken 859-494-5521 Organic Farm Sustainable Farming Danville Kentucky homes and land - You are in for a treat today here we are at the Rolling Fork Organic Farm for sale in Gravel Switch Kentucky this place is spectacular. Now I don't care whether you are in to horses or cattle or tomatoes. They raise a lot of tomatoes here, they bake bread on this Organic Farm. If you're into income property - to have an organic farm for income or are you just want a getaway place, this Kentucky Organic Farm for sale has got it all. All the land is usable really key so important and so hard to find today. All of this land is usable its 30 acres a little over 30. one time. I said to the lady it is 30 acres. she said no. She says it is 3.4 so I say what's .4 acre? and she says that's all I live on now. I think it's kinda a funny story but its little over 30 acres the road comes up. This is all publicly maintained and there is city water back here, you got municipal water which is great any time power goes out you still got water and the views are tremendous. So 30 acres 2000 square-foot house I've always grown up in the country but I've never seen tomatoes go up to 8 feet like this isn't this cool they just picked another 400 pounds of tomatoes and they get sent to a CSA an organic store. It's an Organic Farm for sale and Dan can tell you more about that. from the front of the house and we come to this bread oven which I think is the coolest I'm just into that baking my own bread I mean pizza 25 loaves will fit in here this is a big oven . Of course I got a lot of favorite places like the bread oven that holds 25 loaves of bread or pizzas. I mean, gosh can you imagine making your own pizza on a wood fire oven we got this play house and it's a real house its got power and everything see the screen door and the power and the swing now we ve had a drought so the pond is really low right now. But you've got this rope swing how cool is that get up there and you just do the (inaudible) and its got a canoe This is one of those places that is way out in the country you know you are way out in the country but you are like 15 min to Danville 20 mins to an Organic Farm for sale near Danville KY. This is quite a beautiful thing this is all coir palms and waterfalls and all that stuff if you like that sort of thing you're in for treat. If you don't like that sort of thing. This should be a perfect perfect place for a pool here we are we're going down this road the house is just behind me and I am going to do some footage down there, here's a compost and manure piles and all that stuff that you have with organic farming 240 blueberry bushes and more greenhouses down there they have got eggplants going. These people make a living off of this farm of course that's really subjective so how do you, can you do the same thing but it depends on how hard you work what kind of products you have and so on so forth but that main greenhouse over there is heated so last year for instance Very interesting people they just pick 440 pounds of tomatoes to go out today so that goes for like whole food and places like that. So all certified organic Farm It's an interesting lifestyle absolutely. So envious. Now you heard me mention these people make a living off this farm you don't have to make a living off this farm to enjoy it do whatever you want with it . This is certified organic income producing like a truck farm or wherever you want to call it or you doing vegetables all that stuff and make bread you do not have to do that here. You can just have a beautiful oasis you can plant alfalfa out here for your horses but I So there's lines and lines all over supplying water to these crops I don't know if you can hear the birds or not that's all you hear your are out here . This is parsley that white parsley then you got curly parsley then they have got stuff. I'd have no idea even what some of that other stuff is and it's getting late in the season so not everything is all going at once but then this other greenhouse is filled with plants as well and there is blackberry bushes raspberries you saw the blueberries up there so anyway we just keep driving around . There is city water here so you got everything and then Danville is just right over there, not too far from here. Organic Farm for sale in Kentucky -- thank you for watching.
