Don't #1. Don't Call The Netherlands, Holland. Holland is actually only two of the twelve counties in The Netherlands.
Don't #2. Don't Think the Netherlands is Just Amsterdam. There are tons of other towns, cities and villages to visit. From the flowers in Keukenhof to the Beauty of Groningen.
Don't #3. Don't Be stupid with Drugs or Alcohol when you visit. The coffeeshops are world famous and you should never buy drugs off the street.
Don't #4. Don't just bite into hot food. The Dutch like their fried food hot as can be, so make sure you take a second to blow on it or else you might lose a few skin cells.
Don't #5. Don't Wander into the Bike Lanes in The Netherlands. Those bikes will get you.
Don't #6, Don't Take the Dutch Attitude Personally. The Dutch are very straightforward and will ask you anything. So don't be upset, just know that is just how they are.
Don't #7. Don't Forget to Bring a chip card with a PIN number for purchasing from person-less kiosks & shops.
Don't #8. Have coins with you so you can pick up a snack on the go.
Don't #9. Don't Be Surprised if you see all the Dutch Tourism Stereotypes when you visit. From wooden shoes to windmills to cheese to really tall people on bikes, you will see them.
Don't #10. Don't forget to buzz your train ticket card when you enter and exit the platforms/stations.
Don't #11. Don't Take pictures of the girls in the windows in the Red Light District.
Don't #12. Don't Take the Hop On Hop Off Bus in Amsterdam. The bus cannot go a lot of places in the historic center. You would be better off on the hop on hop off canal boat.
Don't #13. Don't think that Amsterdam is just the red light district. It is so much more with culture, food, art.
Don't #14. Don't forget to Bring a jacket. It will rain while you are there, even if it says sunny.

How to Get from Schiphol Airport to Amsterdam City Center by Train
Amsterdam Airport Schiphol known informally as Schiphol, is the main international airport of the Netherlands. With over 65 million travelers passing through annually it makes schiphol the 3rd busiest aurport in Europe. It offers excellent transport connections including a railway station directly under the airport making getting to central Amsterdam a breeze.
For many passengers, the train is the cheapest and most convenient way of getting to Amsterdam's city centre.
All arriving passenger are funneled towards Schiphol Plaza a short walk from their arrival gate. Just follow the signs for Trains it is at Schiphol Plaza where you will find Train ticket kiosk as well as a train ticket & servive office, where you can purchase your train tickets to Amsterdam.
The train platforms are on the level right below Schipol Plaza.
Dutch railways (NS) runs trains to Amsterdam Central station up to 10 times per hour, between 0600 and 0100. There are also night trains running once an hour on the hour between 0200 and 0500. Giethoorn, Netherlands – Town Having No Roads
Giethoorn – village located in the Dutch (Netherlands) province of Overijssel. It is known to be Netherlands “Venice of the North” or “Venice of the Netherlands“. It became famous, after 1958, when the Dutch film maker Bert Haanstra made his well-known comedy “Fanfare” there. The town having no roads in it and all the transport was done by water over one of the many canals. The lakes in Giethoorn were formed by peat unearthing. Only few cycling tracks are there. People are always greeted and encouraged to rent an electric and quiet “Whisper Boat” to discover this little piece of heaven on earth. With having population of only around 300, one of the beautiful place for the travellers to come and enjoy.
The beauty of this place visitors can discover with organized ship tours, and can rent a boat and drive themselves through the canal. The second way to meet Giethoorn is a walk on the wooden bridges or renting a bike. From Amsterdam it is situated about 90 kilometers away and from Rotterdam and Hague and about 110.

Bicycle trip - Zeist - Driebergen - Doorn and vice versa
This is the bicycle trip of 2010.12.20. The temperature outside was -6 degrees C. The route started at the Schaerweijdelaan in Zeist following the Utrechtseweg (00:00:05) and then the Driebergseweg (00:05:00) in the direction of the Driebergen - Zeist train station (00:13:00). After the DZ station the route was along the Hoofdstraat, passing under Highway A12 (00:15:55) towards Driebergen. Then onwards to Doorn following the Driebergsestraatweg (00:30:00), and just before reaching the center I decided it was time to turn around and via the Berkenstraat (00:38:37) I took the Oude Arnhemse Bovenweg (00:41:25) and followed this road all the way back via Driebergen to Zeist. The last bit of the trip lead through the city center of Zeist (2e Hogeweg (01:14:15), 1e Hogeweg (01:15:38), Oude Arnhemseweg (01:16:55). The video ends near the de Genestetlaan (01:20:50).
The conditions of the cycle lanes are a mixed bag. In some places it is fairly good, in some it is really bad and bumpy. What I don't understand is why often the left side of the lane is better than the right side of the lane. In NL we ride on the right hand side of the road, and a lot of the bicycle lanes had only one direction.
Zeist really could do better in the direct vicinity of the train station. And Driebergen could do better in the cleaning of the cycle lane of the Arnhemse Bovenweg in the direction Zeist.
And oh, the short breaks in the video are because the camera that I have can only save files that are about 2Gb in size, which comes down to 8 minutes 20 s of video.
Although the videos were shot at 1280x720, the maximum that works is 480 at the moment. I don't know why it doesn't work. YT, is it still processing?
