Buenaventura, Colombia, has a violent reputation. But reputations plague cities and countries long after they are (reasonably) safe to visit, and Buenaventura and surroundings has a lot (of food, drink and natural beauty) to offer, and virtually no foreign tourists taking it in. This was a morning drive from the beach town of Tramandai to the capital city of the state of Rio Grande do Sul in southern Brazil. The roads taken in the drive were RS-030 from Tramandai up to the town of Osório, then BR-290 from Osório until it reaches BR-116 into Porto Alegre.
