By rail, by foot or by car Pikes Peak is one of Colorado's most accessible peaks. The initial shots are from Garden of the Gods, which reminded me of a miniature version of Moab, Utah. The major benefit to the municipal park is that it's inside Colorado Springs.
My frequent travelling companion, Goliath Gerard Willachers made one condition if I help him face his fears of yetis, heights, bears, boulders, lake sharks (the most dangerous sort of imaginary mountain creature apparently) and airplanes. Anyway, the arrangement was he got to pick the musical selections. He likes banjo and mandolin tunes so he picked Bela Fleck and the Flecktones' Spanish Point for this one. Why are you still reading this? Look at the snow-capped mountains already...

Willow Park in Lehi Utah is a great place to head out for some camping. This place has HUGE campsites which are great for large groups and a little breathing room if you are tired of cramped campsites.
When we stayed it was $20 per night. It is well maintained with $5 firewood available from the camp host. There is a lot of room for bike riding through the campsite and even more room to play some ball with the kids.
It is right next to the Jordan River so bring a fishing pole or a small boat for even more to do! I will absolutely be coming back here in the future :D
