Southern Utah National Parks Hiking Trip I Travel Vlog
In May, 11 Bearfoot Theory readers and I met up in Southern Utah for the second-ever group trip offered through my blog. Our 5-day trip, led by Arizona Outback Adventures, included swimming in Zion, navigating slot canyons in Escalante National Monument, weaving through the hoodoos of Bryce Canyon, and exploring the secret side of Southern Utah’s popular destinations.

Route 66 to Utah's Big-5 National Parks and the MOA Rally!
Come along on our 2017 RV & Motorcycle journey out West!. Our loop hit up some famous landmarks on historic Route 66 all the way up through the Grand Canyon and then Utah's Big-5 National Parks. Our journey wrapped up in Salt Lake City at the BMW MOA (Motorcycle Owners of America) Rally. We had met several friends along the way to only amplify the fun, and what fun we had. Hope you enjoy!.

We only took still images on this trip. We had more of an intention of Photobucket for sharing our trip, but when that option was taken away, we now have shifted our trip media to YT. I also wanted to pay tribute to someone who has inspired me in doing this VLOG madness. We lost him last Fall during the Sun eclipse event, doing what he loved to do. Some of you may have seen his and Cara's video channel called Road Warrior. I have used some of the same tunes he used frequently to pay tribute to him. I loved his free spirit and his openness, and, overall just a great outlook on life. So so sad, but I want to carry on a small bit of his legend, and thank you for the inspiration. Your spirit lives bro.

Here's a recap of our 6 day road trip around Utah and bordering states!
Our itinerary from Las Vegas:
Day 1: Zion National Park - we hiked through the narrows and did the drive from the west side entrance to the east side entrance. We spent the night 'glamping' (glamorous camping) in Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort.
Day 2: A hike through Kanarraville Falls in the morning followed by a scenic drive to the Northern Rim of the Grand Canyon. We watched the sunset along the Northern Rim at the Lodge where we ate on the outside viewing deck overlooking the canyon. We then drove through the evening to Lone Rock Beach Primitive Campground just outside of Page, Arizona.
Day 3: An early morning excursion through Antelope Canyon followed by an afternoon trip to Horseshoe Bend. We left with enough daylight so that we could see Monument Valley on the way to Cortez, Colorado for the night. We also drove through the 4 Corners Monument.
Day 4: Another scenic drive to Arches National Park. We spent the day at Arches and then drove to Salina, Utah for the night. There are so many scenic views on this drive so we are glad we still had some daylight to check them out.
Day 5: A hike through Capitol Reef National Park as well as a scenic drive through the park in the morning followed by a beautiful Bryce Canyon sunset. We wanted to see the sunset at Bryce and this was our only day to do so since we had to be back to Vegas by the end of the next day. We stayed the night in Panguitch, Utah.
Day 6: A hike through Bryce Canyon in the morning and then we stopped by Mossy Cave (which is really a waterfall) before our drive back to Vegas for our flight home.

DAY-HIKING: The Gunlock Falls - An Oasis in the Desert
In this video, my daughter and I went for a short day hike to the Gunlock Falls near Saint George in Utah.
The Gunlock Falls is more of a seasonal fall that in a good snow year can run through the entire summer. It is a result of an overflow from the Gunlock Reservoir at the Gunlock State Park. The current on these falls is very strong and it can be dangerous to try to swim or even getting into the water. Appreciating just the views is the best wise decision. Nevertheless, it is a beautiful place. There are also trails around for hiking and the scenery is beautiful!
We decided to arrive early on a Sunday morning because it can get very crowded during summer weekends. We had this place all to ourselves and we loved it!
A Beautiful Day At Gunlock Falls - Gunlock State Park
We wanted to get out of Vegas for today and researched some places we can go. Little did we know Gunlock Falls is only an 1.5 hours away from Vegas located in Utah! Enjoy the pictures and vidoes!
