The Science Museum in London Full Tour
A walking tour around the Science Museum in London.
The museum was founded in 1857 under Bennet Woodcroft from the collection of the Royal Society of Arts and surplus items from the Great Exhibition as part of the South Kensington Museum, together with what is now the Victoria and Albert Museum. It included a collection of machinery which became the Museum of Patents in 1858, and the Patent Office Museum in 1863. This collection contained many of the most famous exhibits of what is now the Science Museum. In 1883, the contents of the Patent Office Museum were transferred to the South Kensington Museum. In 1885, the Science Collections were renamed the Science Museum and in 1893 a separate director was appointed.[2] The Art Collections were renamed the Art Museum, which eventually became the Victoria and Albert Museum.
When Queen Victoria laid the foundation stone for the new building for the Art Museum, she stipulated that the museum be renamed after herself and her late husband. This was initially applied to the whole museum, but when that new building finally opened ten years later, the title was confined to the Art Collections and the Science Collections had to be divorced from it.[3 On 26 June 1909 the Science Museum, as an independent entity, came into existence. The Science Museum's present quarters, designed by Sir Richard Allison, were opened to the public in stages over the period 1919--28. This building was known as the East Block, construction of which began in 1913 and temporarily halted by World War I. As the name suggests it was intended to be the first building of a much larger project, which was never realized. However, the Museum buildings were expanded over the following years; the Centre Block was completed in 1961-3, the infill of the East Block and the construction of the Lower & Upper Wellcome Galleries in 1980, and the construction of the Wellcome Wing in 2000 result in the Museum now extending to Queensgate.

The Science Museum now holds a collection of over 300,000 items, including such famous items as Stephenson's Rocket, Puffing Billy (the oldest surviving steam locomotive), the first jet engine, a reconstruction of Francis Crick and James Watson's model of DNA, some of the earliest remaining steam engines, a working example of Charles Babbage's Difference engine (and the latter, preserved half brain), the first prototype of the 10,000-year Clock of the Long Now, and documentation of the first typewriter. It also contains hundreds of interactive exhibits. A recent addition is the IMAX 3D Cinema showing science and nature documentaries, most of them in 3-D, and the Wellcome Wing which focuses on digital technology. Entrance has been free since 1 December 2001.
The museum houses some of the many objects collected by Henry Wellcome around a medical theme. The fourth floor exhibit is called Glimpses of Medical History, with reconstructions and dioramas of the history of practised medicine. The fifth floor gallery is called Science and the Art of Medicine, with exhibits of medical instruments and practices from ancient days and from many countries. The collection is strong in clinical medicine, biosciences and public health. The museum is a member of the London Museums of Health & Medicine.
The Science Museum has a dedicated library, and until the 1960s was Britain's National Library for Science, Medicine and Technology. It holds runs of periodicals, early books and manuscripts, and is used by scholars worldwide. It has for a number of years been run in conjunction with the Library of Imperial College, but in 2007 the Library was divided over two sites. Histories of science and biographies of scientists are still kept at the Imperial College in London. The rest of the collection which includes original scientific works and archives are now located in Wroughton, Wiltshire.

Cambridge, a Historic City with a World-Renowned University
Cambridge is a university city in Cambridgeshire in England. The city brings many images to mind: the breathtaking view of King's College Chapel from across the river Cam, the rich intricacy of Gothic architecture, students cycling to lectures, and lazy summer punting on the River Cam.
Cambridge manages to combine its role as an historic city with a world-renowned University and, in more recent years, an internationally acknowledged centre of excellence for technology and science. The University of Cambridge was founded in the 13th century by scholars leaving Oxford after a dispute with townsfolk. They chose the quiet town of Cambridge as a suitable location for study. In the 17th century Cambridge University educated many of the founders of a (then) minor American university called Harvard, also located in a place called Cambridge (named after the English university).
Cambridge University has many famous alumni, including: mathematicians such as Sir Isaac Newton, philosophers such as Bertrand Russell and Ludwig Wittgenstein, and writers such as John Milton and Lord Byron. It was the site of Rutherford's pioneering work in nuclear physics as well as Crick and Watson's DNA work. Cambridge academics have won more Nobel Prizes than those of any other university in the world.
The city is surrounded on all sides by heritage villages, towns and ancient monuments all within easy travelling distance. Like Oxford, Cambridge was spared from the German carpet bombing that devastated many other British cities, and is thus one of the best-preserved medieval cities in the UK.
More than 3.5 million visitors come to Cambridge every year to savour the delights of the historic city itself, as well as using it as an ideal base for exploring some of the gentlest and most unspoiled countryside in England.

Uk Fairs video mix 2004 - 2009
Its been quite a few weeks since I have uploaded a video and with the busy backend run of fairs starting in a couple of weeks at Oxford St Giles I thought I better upload something!
Here is a mixed video I did for a showman who back in June 2009 requested a video of UK fairs generally. As I did not have time to film any new footage I went back through my tapes (of which I must ahve well over 100 now!) and took footage from at least 20 of them to make this film for them. Its very much like the old style I used to do my pre- DV videos in from 2002 - 2004. I did an annual video for a couple of years in 2002, 2003 and I think 2004 as well. While the video was used on his project nothing became of it and I still had the orginal video here so thought you all might like to see it. Its a mix from my old DV footage filmed 2004 - 2006 converted into wide screen to fit in with the newer mixed HDV footage from 2007 onwards.
I have listed below from memory the rides, fairs and years I shot them - there might be the odd mistake but I am not going to look through all the tape lables to find them out right now!

Dubai Builds World's Tallest Tower: 1300m+ Dubai Creek Tower | 2019 Update
Dubai Creek Tower is an observation tower on hold located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, at a preliminary cost
of AED 3.67 billion (US$1 billion) and is expected to be completed by 2022.
The tower was initially known as The Tower at Dubai Creek Harbour. Designed by Spanish-Swiss architect Santiago Calatrava, the Dubai creek tower will stand more than a KIlometer above Dubai.
The Tower is a joint venture between Emaar Properties and Dubai Holding, the investment vehicle of the emirate’s ruler, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum.
Upon completion, it will become the tallest tower in the world, surpassing the Tokyo Skytree.
Set to take the record of the world's tallest building, Dubai Creek Tower will be the centrepiece of a brand-new, sprawling residential and retail development - Dubai Creek Harbour.
The final height of the tower will not be announced until its completion,but speculation is that the tower will stand near 1300m tall. Its construction cost is estimated at $1BN
Dubai creek tower will feature lush sky gardens, and the world's highest observation deck. The observation deck offers rotating balconies with 360 degree views of the city and beyond. Hotels, restaurants and several residences will occupy the 20 usable floors.
Preparation works began in october 2016, 170,000 cubic meters of soil were excavated for the foundation. After that 145 piles were laid and inserted into the bottom at 75m deep, 210 thousand tonnes of concrete was poured to form the foundation.
Up to 16,000t of steel reinforcement, twice the weight of Eiffel Tower, has also placed for the tower.
Completion was set for 2020. However, in late 2018 construction halted as the tower was indefinitely put on hold.

CAGE OF DEATH - Swimming With Crocodiles
Crocosaurus Cove, is a popular tourist attraction, which brings together some of the largest Saltwater Crocodiles in Australia, and has around 200 crocodiles, and is Located in the centre of Darwin, in the northern territory of Australia.
There are many attractions and things to do at Crocosaurus cove, such as fishing for crocs from a platform and even hold a baby Saltwater Crocodile, it also has the world’s largest display of Australian reptiles.
But the main attraction is the cage of death, where you are lowered into the water in a clear acrylic cage, while crocodiles of over 5 meters long swim around you.
