Zamek książąt mazowieckich w Czersku – zamek gotycki zbudowany na przełomie XIV i XV wieku usytuowany jest blisko Warszawy (ok. 35 km).
Jest świetną propozycją na weekendowy wypad dla mieszkańców stolicy.
W miejscu dzisiejszego zamku w XI wieku istniał drewniano ziemny gród o konstrukcji izbicowej zbudowany w czasach panowania Bolesława Śmiałego lub Władysława Hermana. Gród ten był głównym ośrodkiem administracyjnym księstwa czerskiego. W 1224 roku wymieniono w źródłach kasztelana czerskiego Piotra Pilcha. Pod koniec XIII wieku zbudowano w grodzie kaplicę św. Piotra. W XIV wieku książę mazowiecki Janusz I, rozkazał w miejscu przestarzałego grodu wznieść ceglany zamek, który wybudowano w latach 1388 - 1410. Była to jedna z najważniejszych rezydencji księcia Janusza I, który zmarł na tym zamku w dniu 8 grudnia 1429 roku.
Gdy tereny te zostały przyłączone do Królestwa Polskiego w 1526 roku, zamek stał się własnością królewską. W tym też okresie nadbudowano cylindryczne wieże. Od 1547 roku zamek podlegał królowej Bonie, która nakazała wymianę drewnianej zabudowy dziedzińca na murowaną.
W czasie Potopu szwedzkiego, w 1656 roku, zamek w Czersku doznał bardzo poważnego uszczerbku. Wojska szwedzkie po doznaniu klęski od Stefana Czarnieckiego pod Warką, wycofując się, opanowały zamek i poważnie go zdewastowały.
Obecnie zamek udostępniony jest zwiedzającym.

Telc, Czech Republic: A Quick Visit to a Czech Gem
One of the most picturesque and colorful small towns in the Czech Republic, Telc is a beautiful and fairytale-like place that you're going to want to spend a few hours walking around and enjoying.
Telc is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and there are plenty of bright houses, hidden passages, quite streets and even a grand chateau that you can check out.
I spent about an hour walking around Telc but I would have loved to have had an entire day to just explore and relax in this lovely little Czech town.

Mikołajki Jewish Cemetery, Masurian Lakes, Poland

The Jewish cemetery in Mikołajki is some distance from the centre and was created outside the boundaries of the town. Today it is found in ul. Dybowska, which is unpaved.
The date of foundation of the cemetery is not known. The oldest gravestone, belonging to Sarah Mormenstein, dates back to 1881, although there could have been stones which were older and which were devasted during the Nazi rule. However despite this devastation this is one of the best-preserved Jewish cemeteries in former East Prussia.
There are 23 complete gravestones and 12 partially preserved gravestones. There are also nine tombs. As can be seen in this video, most are from sandstone. Most stones are written on one side in Hebrew and on the other in German.
I believe that the growth of the railways at the end of the nineteenth century could have seen a growth in the Jewish population of Mikołajki as people came to retire or run businesses from such places as Konigsberg or Gdańśk.
The fate of the Jewish population of Mikołajki is not known. Given that the population were German citizens, even had they survived, they could not have returned after the war.
