When we said Maine offers a versatile landscape, we weren’t kidding. Maine has a desert! Almost unheard of in a state that is so very coastal.
Outside the town of Freeport lies 40-acres of smooth, sandy desert; becoming an evermore popular attraction for both domestic and international visitors.
Maine is a keen fishing state, and in 2014 it produced nearly 90% of the United State’s lobster yield. For those who are fans of seafood, you will feel right at home here in Maine.
When it comes to looking at this state as a potential place to live, you’re already onto a winner with easy access to outstanding natural beauty.

Bloomington, Indiana Weekend Road Trip From Chicago | Travel Vlog & Scavenger Hunt
This month, I was so excited to partner with Visit Bloomington to showcase the city of Bloomington, IN - home of my alma mater Indiana University - by taking a fun weekend getaway from Chicago.
In this video, my husband and I hit the road after work on a Friday in mid-May, and journeyed four hours south (okay, five hours because of Friday traffic) to the city where we met as college freshmen.
As always, a return to Bloomington is a trip down memory lane. The city has changed and blossomed so much since we met there in 2006, and it’s exciting to see its growth every time we return!
For this particular adventure, we got to follow a scavenger hunt list of quintessentially fun Bloomington hotspots, courtesy of my partnership with Visit Bloomington. As part of our enthusiasm for B-town, we aimed to visit as many as possible over our two day trip!

Family Travel with Colleen Kelly - Chicago, Illinois
What better way to start a tour of Chicago than at the top of one of the tallest buildings in the world, the Willis Tower. Colleen Kelly meets family friends on the glass enclosed ledge overlooking the Windy City from 103 stories high. A short water taxi ride takes visitors from the Willis Tower to the Children’s Museum at Navy Pier where Colleen splashes with kids at the Water Ways exhibit. The next stop is Lincoln Park where Colleen explores the oldest free zoo in the United States before heading to a musical theater where all of the shows are based on kids’ books and involve audience participation.
Shopping on Michigan Avenue is a must in Chicago! Colleen joins two fashion forward moms to get the 411 on the shopping scene. You can’t visit Chicago without feasting on deep dish pizza! Colleen joins a family in pizza making 101 at Gino’s East, one of the original pizza parlors in the city. Next, Colleen pets the belugas at the Shedd Aquarium, tours historic Wrigley Field, and sails away on a beautiful boat ride along the Chicago River.
