Ghost Town of World, Xinjiang

Located about 100 kilometers (62 miles) away from Karamay City, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the 'Ghost Town' is renowned for its Yardang landform landscape. Formally, it is called Feng Cheng (Windy Town) since strong winds (gales of force 8 on the Beaufort scale) frequently blow in this area. When the winds come, they roar through the town like howling ghosts. Hence, its name 'Ghost Town'.
