Lough Erne County Fermanagh; NI Second Biggest Lake System-Irish Fishing - Enniskillen Fermanagh
These views of Lough Erne, county Fermanagh! Yes, they took our breath away as well, just the same way they did with you right now! A place in the town of Enniskillen, Northern Ireland, that you should add right now on your list of places to visit in Ireland.
Lough Erne is the name given to the two connecting lakes in county Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. Lough Erne is considered the second biggest lake in Northern Ireland and Ulster and it is considered the fourth biggest in Ireland as a whole - which pushed us to reach this place, get introduced to its beauty, and see how magnificent it is.
The smaller southern lake is known as the Upper Lough as it is higher up the river, while the bigger northern lake is called the Lower Lough or Broad Lough. Lough Erne is found on the town of Enniskillen which is placed on the short stretch of river between the two lakes.
For us, this is considered the perfect place for nature due to the idea behind Lough Erne being the place where the two lakes meet, and also for being a place where different islands along with many coves and inlets are found; just as you can see through the video, it is a perfect description for nature.
Enniskillen town, where the Lough Erne is located, is a civil parish in county Fermanagh and it is located exactly in the center of the county where the upper and lower parts of Lough Erne lake are found. Everything has a story behind and the name of this town is believed to carry a story for it as well; it is believed that the name originally came from Cethlenn who was wounded in battle by an arrow and attempted to swim across the River Erne but never made it, and thus the place was named after her, since it comes from the Irish name Inis Ceithleann.
Visiting this place, Lough Erne, will give you the chance to see some of the other landmarks which are found in the town of Enniskillen, such as the Enniskillen Castle which is considered the oldest building in the place. It is not just about the castle, but Enniskillen is the place where the British Army regiments were found. This is considered a place with rich history and there are lots of hidden stories and gems that this name still carries.
To complete your trip in Enniskillen, there are some other suggestions which we will provide you with to visit as much historical and natural places as possible. In addition to the castle, you could also visit the Inniskillings Museum, the Castle Coole, the Monea Castle, the Coles Monument, the Portora Castle, the Tully Castle, the Florence Court, as well as other things simpler than those which you could also come across.
If you are staying at Belfast, the capital of Northern Ireland, during your visit but you are heading to Lough Erne in Enniskillen town to check this magical place in county Fermanagh, you could actually make a day trip there because it does not take so long; there are different routes and the longest of them will get you there in about two hours and twenty minutes in total, which is considered reasonable for a day trip and enjoying a couple of things to see in Enniskillen.
For those who are not willing to consider this a day trip, they could then search for the resorts or hotels which they could book at in order to enjoy their stay. One of the places which we suggest is the Lough Erne resort, which is sometimes referred to as Enniskillen Hotel, where there are different outdoor activities that one could get the chance to be part of in order to enjoy the fresh air of this place, such as going to the Lough Navar Forest, visiting the Crom Estate, going to Castle Archdale, or else visiting the Cuilcagh Mountain - these come in addition to the ones we have already mentioned above.
Connolly Cove is the place where we bring different recommendations and suggestions for those who enjoy visiting several places in the countries they are going to visit; not just the famous landmarks, but those beautiful ones which might not be gaining the same amount of tourists and visitors. This channel is mainly focused on Ireland and Northern Ireland, but we have been working hard to expand and reach different other countries around the world.

Walking to the top of Cuilcagh via the Boardwalk 19/04/2018
Today I walked 2 key stages of the highly recommended Cuilcagh Way to the top of Cuilcagh Mountain, Co. Fermanagh, N.Ireland. This is one of the top walks in Ireland. I started from the car park at Claddagh Glen, past the Marble Arch Caves Visitor Centre, on to the Cuilcagh Car Park, and then onto the main route. This took me after another 3k to the famous Boardwalk and the steps. At the top, I paused for the views and some refreshments and then I pushed on to the Cairn and the very top of the mountain, all 666 metres of it. Then it was back the way I came.
This is a very challenging route, but very scenic and rewarding - you need the right footwear to do the last bit to the Cairn but you should do it to get the full 360 degree vista. Its incredible scenery all the way, Fermanagh at its finest.
Almost 20k walked so prepare well, and go for it!! Enjoy the video

Marble Arch Caves Global Geopark
The Marble Arch Caves Global Geopark contains some of the finest landscapes in the north of Ireland. Ranging from rugged uplands, lakes and forests through to gently rolling drumlins, the landscapes of the Geopark represent a complex Earth history dating back as far as 650 million years ago. With evidence of mountain building and destruction; searing hot deserts and warm tropical oceans; and of icy wastelands and water-worn caverns, the rocks and landscapes of the Geopark are nothing short of amazing.

This is the first day of our 2-day Northern Ireland adventure.
So from Dublin we drove up to County Fermanagh where Cuilcagh Mountain Park is located. We parked our car close to the mountain trail which is in Marble Arch Caves
When we parked our car we decided that we should at least explore the cave since we were already there. After that, the journey of the climb started. I took us around 2hrs each way (medium paced walk) and an hour of rest at the top of the mountain. All I can say is that it was a bearable climb considering there were proper pathways and the weather was on our side that day. I recommend bring water to keep you hydrated at all times.
After that excursion, we took a trip back to the Irish border in county Monaghan to rest for the next day in a lovely Airbnb (breakfast included). I must say our host Jimmy was really nice and I'd recommend it if ever your visiting the surrounding areas of Monaghan.
The next vlog is more adventures within Northern Ireland, so stay tune for that.
Credits to everyone who made this trip happen and were cool enough to be on my vlogs.
