Andros Town (Chora) is located on the east coast of Andros (the harbor, Gavrio is on the west coast). Andros Town is very charming, with a combination of Venetian, Byzantine, Ottoman and Cycladic architecture, meandering alleys, shops and museums. It is built on a peninsula, sandwiched between two beaches, Neiborio and Paraporti. The gateway to the old city has been preserved. Andros Town has two unique central squares: one paved with stone and full of restaurants and cafes, and one paved in marble with a statue of the Unknown Sailor in the center. Chora has a great tourist infrastructure and is a great place to stay for easy access to all amenities. The Museum of Modern Art in Chora hosts an exhibition every summer.
