2018 05 12 - The Westcoaster - #8295 - R711
Private charter by Eddie White, 'The Westcoaster' sees the return of steam to the south-western broad gauge line to Warrnambool. Train #8295, powered by R711 with its matching Spirit of Progress carriages completes the journey effortlessly.
With the 220+ rail fans aboard, train #8295 reportedly makes maximum track speed in excess of 100 kph along the Melbourne to Geelong section of track, making it a difficult train for enthusiasts to chase.
The extreme wind caused a few microphone issues, as such some music by one of my favorite bands Tangerine Dream is played, appropriately titled 'Love on a real train'.
The last time a steam train visited Warrnambool was in 2004 & the last time R711 visited was in 2002. Hoards of people from near & far turned out to witness the event.
We capture it at a number of trackside locations consisting of North Melbourne, Little River, Pettavel, Warncoort, Stoneyford, Boorcan, Sherwood Park & Warrnambool.
Towards the end of daylight hours, the train was turned & we captured the event, which took significantly longer than anyone anticipated.

Hello All,
Welcome to another heritage video.
Today we take a look at Steamrail Victoria's charter train The Warrnambool Westcoaster.
The service made use of former Super R locomotive R711 Spirit of Bendigo.
The tour sees locomotive R711 and 7 Ex-Victorian Railway's livery carriages power along the mainline to Warrnambool marking the first steam service to go to Warrnambool since West Coast Railways ceased operations in 2004.
The service is by the special work of Edward White as the charterer of the service.
The train leaving Southern Cross at 8:45AM with it's top speed of 115kph beyond Geelong.
This service also made special tibute to two idividuals Gary McDonald and Trevour Kruger.

BLACK SHADOWS AND CREEPY CEMETERY MIST IN HAUNTED QUEENSCLIFF!
I originally went down to Ocean Grove to check out my mates new house which is haunted, we were gonna set up the KINECT camera and wait patiently for strange occurrences to happen... but we hadn't seen each other in ages so ended up sitting out in her backyard with a fire going catching up at all hours. While outside I DID hear footsteps in the house, they were loud. Two of her sons have experienced paranormal activity in the house and the youngest sleeps with lighting on. He mentioned a black figure peering around at him at his bedroom door. Activity happens in the house with objects being moved etc...
It got to about 3am when we decided to go to the Point Lonsdale cemetery in Queenscliff. It was a last minute decision but I'm glad we went.
This place was so creepy we didn't get out of the car. I caught strange shadows (which I couldn't figure out if they were created from my light source, I didn't notice them in real time, it was only going through the footage later did I notice them.
We had orb flashes and LOADS OF MOTHS.
Now I know yr thinking that the orbs were just the moths. Trust me, they weren't. You can tell the difference.
Also upon playback I noticed a weird mist anomaly fly past really quick.
Were these spirits coming to contact us like we asked?
We had a Sean Mackay come through several times throughout the spirit box session and upon research we found a someone recently buried about an hour away in Colac with that exact name. Coincidental? Who knows but they were pretty persistent in coming through. We had a Mike and Stuart come through as well.
Spirit Box voices mentioned the shadows in the cemetery and labelled them 'evil', no wonder my mate didn't wanna get out of the car!
*The original burial ground for this cemetery was near the foreshore, and was the last resting place for an unknown number of men and women who died on the perilous sea voyage to Australia in the 1840s. In 1859 their bodies were re-interred in this current cemetery.*
