My 30 Day Eurail Pass - Bratislava, Slovakia
Bratislava was my first destination using my 30 Day Eurail Pass. I left Krakow, had to change trains in Czech Republic, and about 6 hours later made it to Bratislava. It was a nice ride, first class car all to my self half of the trip. Definitely one of the nicest train cars of my entire journey.
Once in Bratislava I took an Uber to the Patio Hostel, they were nice enough to host me for 3 nights, and the location was great, very close to Old Town. I had a private room and bathroom which was convenient, couldn't ask for anything more.
I met up with a couple locals that found me on Couchsurfing. Marek showed me around town, gave me a great tour, plus we went to an old restaurant and I tried some local dishes.
I took the bus to Devin Castle, thanks to the Bratislava Tourism Board for providing the Bratislava Card which includes free public transportation and entrance into many museums and attractions. I was able to take the bus and get into the castle free which was very nice. Then I met up with some locals for dinner and had some sausage and sides.
I had a free day so I took the train with my Eurail pass to Trnava, it was just a 30 minute ride. I thought it was going to be a small village, but it was a descent sized town, but with a small old town area which had some nice restaurants and cafes. I went to the Synagogue Cafe which used to be an actual synagogue. Not a whole lot to see so I headed back on the train to Bratislava.
My favorite cafe was Mondeiu, the hot chocolate there is amazing. It's so thick and rich, it's almost like drinking pudding, so good! I highly recommend going there at least once when you're in Bratislava. After that I met up with some locals for Vietnamese food, which wasn't bad, just doesn't compare to Southern California's Vietnamese food, or Vietnam. But I wasn't expecting to much, so it was good.
The next morning it was time to head off to Budapest, luckily it would be a short train ride, so I woke up early and caught the 8am train.

A very busy day at the Watford Miniature Railway in Cassiobury Park on Sunday 6th May 2018 with the beautiful weather bringing thousands of visitors out.
The railway was running a two-train service with steam locomotive No.7 Marri working one and the other being shared by diesels Conway Castle and Nikki Louise.
This video features the three locos in action carrying mostly packed trains. Marri is featured first - recently returned from overhaul and 25 years since she first arrived in the UK having been built in Australia. Second to feature is Conway Castle with Nikki Louise making an appearance at the end.
