Located approximately thirty miles outside of Prague is the luxurious Baroque chateau of Konopiste.
The chateau was initially constructed as a Gothic fortress, then remodeled with Renaissance modifications, and finally repaired after damages in Baroque style.
Famous as the residence of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria during his assassination, the so called bullet that triggered World War One is exhibited in the castle's gallery. (Frah-nz)

Křivoklát was founded in the 12th century, belonging to the kings of Bohemia. During the reign of Přemysl Otakar II a large, monumental royal castle was built, later rebuilt by king Václav IV and later enlarged by king Vladislav of Jagellon.
