Amersfoort - Niederlande

Amersfoort ist mit 150.898 Einwohnern (Stand 1. Januar 2014) die zweitgrößte Stadt der niederländischen Provinz Utrecht. Nördlich der eigentlichen Stadt liegt das alte Dorf Hoogland, das um 1974 gegen den Willen der damaligen Bevölkerung nach Amersfoort eingemeindet wurde. Es ist jetzt völlig von Neubauvierteln der Stadt umringt.

Sehenswürdigkeiten
Der Onze-Lieve-Vrouwetoren (Unserer-Lieben-Frauturm“) ist einer der höchsten mittelalterlichen Kirchtürme des Landes. Die zugehörige Kirche wurde 1787 bei einer Explosion zerstört, der Turm blieb stehen.
Die sehenswerte Innenstadt ist mittelalterlich. Zu erwähnen sind die Sint-Joris Kirche, die Koppelpoort (kombinierte Land-Wassertore, vom Zug nach Apeldoorn aus sehr gut zu sehen), und die Muurhuizen („Mauerhäuser“), die an die älteste Stadtmauer gebaut sind.

3 dagen verken ik de Schotse Hooglanden. De stad Inverness wordt ook wel de hoofdstad van de hooglanden genoemd, vanuit daar ga ik hiken, dolfijnen spotten met een RIB, kanoën, fietsen, een cruise maken over Loch Ness, whiskey proeven en natuurlijk.... de kilt van een heuse Schot omhoog tillen...
