Jocotenango is a small municipality in the northeast section of Guatemalan department of Sacatepéquez, and is situated north of Antigua Guatemala. It has seven zones, two villages, and one hamlet. According to the 2002 Guatemalan Census, the municipality has a total population of 18,562 or which approximately 1,072 are native population and the balance are non-indigenous; and approximately 16,692 live in an urban area, while the balance are rural dwellers.Jocotenango is the birthplace of multi Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter Ricardo Arjona.

    The Centro Cultural la Azotea is a cultural center and museum complex, located in the township and municipality of Jocotenango in Guatemala's Sacatepéquez Department. It lies some 2 kilometres north of the department's capital Antigua Guatemala in the city's modern outskirts, and is approximately 43 kilometres from the national capital, Guatemala City. The center comprises three separate museums, on the grounds of a coffee-growing estate or finca.     Volcán de Fuego or Chi'gag is an active stratovolcano in Guatemala, on the borders of Chimaltenango, Escuintla and Sacatepéquez departments. It sits about 16 kilometres west of Antigua, one of Guatemala's most famous cities and a tourist destination. It has erupted frequently since the Spanish conquest, most recently in June 2018.Fuego is famous for being almost constantly active at a low level. Small gas and ash eruptions occur every 15 to 20 minutes, but larger eruptions are rare. Andesite and basalt lava types dominate, and recent eruptions have tended to be more mafic than older ones.The volcano is joined with Acatenango and collectively the complex is known as La Horqueta.

    Mixco Viejo , occasionally spelt Mixcu Viejo, is an archaeological site in the north east of the Chimaltenango department of Guatemala, some 50 kilometres to the north of Guatemala City and 4 kilometres from the junction of the rivers Pixcaya and Motagua. It is a moderate sized ruined city of the Postclassic Maya civilization. The archaeological site and tourist attraction of Mixco Viejo was named after being erroneously associated with the Postclassic Poqomam capital referred to in colonial records by that name. The archaeological site has now been identified as Jilotepeque Viejo, the capital of the Chajoma Kaqchikel kingdom. To distinguish between the two, the ruins of the Chajoma capital are now referred to as Mixco Viejo while the former Poqomam capital is referred to as Mixco Viejo . ...
