It is November 19th 2011. A pay week for most in Antigua Guatemala. The local market is packed with locals shopping and all those selling goods of all kinds as the video shows.
We are on our way to the chicken bus part of the market seeking a chicken bus to take us from Antigua to a village in the area of Antigua Guatemala one of them being Santa Maria de Jesus.

Our Lady of Aparecida - Brasilia 2010 - second part - Procession
I taped a video with the Mass and Procession of Our Lady of Aparecida, patroness of Brazil. We don't care very much about Independence Day (September the 7th), but the Holiday dedicated to our patroness Our Lady of Aparecida (October 12th) tops anything you could ever imagine.
A helicopter of Brasilia's Military Police had loads of rose petals fall from sky on the public at sunset.
The procession of people praying the Rosary with lit candles in the evening was kilometric.
The fireworks at the end of everything lasted for fifteen minutes!
Afterwards, there were members of a youth group that simply couldn't stop singing and yelling praises to Jesus and to Our Lady.
It was beautiful!
The Mass was concelebrated by Brasilia's Archbishop João Bráz de Aviz, by Brazilian Cardinal and former Brasilia's Archbishop José Freire Falcão, and by many other bishops and almost all of Brasilia's priests. Many seminarians were also present. As well as a few authorities, including the candidates for Brasilia's Government and their families.
Talking about it, we'll have elections on the 31st, and Dom João was quite rough on politicians and on candidates during the homily. He was applauded intensely by the congregation. He yelled at corrupt politicians and candidates who keep stealing public money and who are against Christian values and emphasized that more than 90% of Brazilian electors are Christians and that over 70% are against abortion. He criticized harshly those candidates who said they were in favour of legalizing abortion and then changed opinion because polls were showing they were losing votes. Dom João is a great Bishop!

It was on October 12th, but the video turned out to be very long: 40 minutes. It took me until today so that I could find the time to edit it to make it short, so that watching it won't be too boring. I tried to make it as short as I could. The result was 15 minutes long. I hope you'll enjoy it.

P.S.: I have just finished reading Rome Sweet Home by Scott and Kimberly Hahn. It is a must! I had already read The Lamb's Supper by Scott Hahn. Can't wait till I read their other books. A truly catholic person simply cannot not have read those! Or at least these two of them: The Lamb's Supper and Rome Sweet Home.

Antigua Guatemala (commonly referred to as just Antigua or la Antigua) is a city in the central highlands of Guatemala famous for its well-preserved Spanish Baroque influenced architecture as well as a number of spectacular ruins of colonial churches. It has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.Antigua Guatemala serves as the municipal seat for the surrounding municipality of the same name. It also serves as the departmental capital of Sacatepéquez Department.
The city had a peak population of some 60,000 in the 1770s; the bulk of the population moved away in the late 18th century. Despite significant population growth in the late 20th century, the city had only reached half that number by the 1990s. According to the 2007 census, the city has some 34,685 inhabitants.
Central Park (Parque Central) is the heart of the city. The reconstructed fountain there is a popular gathering spot. Off to the side of the Central Park, the Arco de Santa Catalina is among the many notable architectural landmarks of La Antigua.
La Antigua is noted for its very elaborate religious celebrations during Lent (Cuaresma), leading up to Holy Week (Semana Santa) and Easter (Pascua). Each Sunday in Lent, one of the local parishes sponsor a Procession through the streets of Antigua. Elaborate and beautiful artistic carpets predominantly made of dyed sawdust, flowers, pine needles and even fruits and vegetables adorn the processions' path.Due to its popularity amongst tourists and its very well developed tourism infrastructure, Antigua Guatemala is often used as a central location in which many choose to set up base and from here, visit other tourist areas in Guatemala and Central America. Cruise ships that dock at Guatemalan ports offer trips to Antigua from both the Pacific and Atlantic.
Antigua also holds a sizeable retirement community from the US as well as Europe as its colonial charm and mild climate has appealed to many who have crossed paths with this enchanting and romantic town.
