The LaHave River is a 97 km river in Nova Scotia, Canada, running from its source in Annapolis County to the Atlantic Ocean. Along its way, it splits the communities of LaHave and Riverport and runs along the Fairhaven Peninsula and bisects the town of Bridgewater flowing into the LaHave River estuary. Tides affect water levels for about 20 km up the river. There are a number of tourist attractions along the river, and it is also well-used for recreational sailing. LaHave is a Canadian community in Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia. The community is located across the river from Riverport and approximately 15 kilometres from the town of Bridgewater. Once the capital of Acadia, it is located on Highway 331 at the mouth of the 97 km long LaHave River.

Not to be confused with Fort Point Lighthouse Fort Sainte-Marie-de-Grace was the capital of Acadia and its location is now a national historic site located in LaHave, Nova Scotia, Canada. Currently known as the Fort Point Museum. Following the signing of the Treaty of Saint-Germain-en-Laye between the English and French in 1632, Governor Isaac de Razilly returned to Acadia and decided to move the capital from Port Royal, Nova Scotia, to LaHave and built the fort. The fort was abandoned in 1636 after the death of the governor and the fort was destroyed by fire in the 1650s.The site of the fort was registered as an historic site on 4 June 1924. The land on which the fort was built has eroded away, but a cairn commemorating the site is situated nearby.

Annapolis Royal, formerly known as Port Royal, is a town located in the western part of Annapolis County, Nova Scotia, Canada. Today's Annapolis Royal evolved from the 1605 French settlement of Port Royal , renamed in honour of Queen Anne following the Siege of Port Royal in 1710 by Britain. The town was the capital of Acadia and later Nova Scotia for almost 150 years, until the founding of the City of Halifax in 1749. It was attacked by the British six times before permanently changing hands after the Siege of Port Royal in 1710. Over the next fifty years, the French and their allies made six unsuccessful military attempts to regain the capital. Fort Anne is a four-star fort built to protect the harbour of Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia. The fort repelled all French attacks during the early stages of King George's War. Now designated a National Historic Site of Canada, it is managed by Parks Canada. The 1797 officer's quarters was renovated in the 1930s and now house the museum with exhibits about the fort's history and historic artifacts from the area. A 1⁄2-kilometre trail runs along the fort's earthen walls, and provides a view of the Annapolis River and basin.

Grand-Pré is a Canadian rural community in Kings County, Nova Scotia. Its French name translates to Great/Large Meadow and the community lies at the eastern edge of the Annapolis Valley several kilometres east of the town of Wolfville on a peninsula jutting into the Minas Basin surrounded by extensive dyked farm fields, framed by the Gaspereau and Cornwallis Rivers. The community was made famous by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's poem Evangeline and is today home to the Grand-Pré National Historic Site. On June 30, 2012, the Landscape of Grand-Pré was named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Gaff Point Hiking Trail | Halifax | Bridgewater | Subtitles | Nova Scotia | Canada

In this video we are hiking Gaff Point Hiking Trail in Nova Scotia, Canada.

This trail is location about 1-1.5 hours from the main city of Halifax, near a town called Bridgewater (and Lunenburg) - which is close to Hirtles Beach, NS.

There is a lot of parking at this trail, as there is also a pebble beach here. Once you leave the parking lot and get into the beach, walk all the way down to the end of the beach where you can access the Gaff Point Trail.

The trail is 3.5 kms long round trip. In total from the parking lot its a 6.5 kms trail including the section of beach you need to walk along in order to get to the trail head.

This is a fairly easy hike, with little elevation gain. You are exposed to wind for the majority of the hike, so dress like you're on the ocean!

If you are looking to hike Nova Scotia, this should be one trail that is on your list. It is one of the better hiking Trails in Halifax and maybe on the of the best hikes in Nova Scotia with it's great ocean views!
