MA TOGOMA PROMO
CHOREOGRAPHY & DANCE BY JOANA PERES (PORTUGAL)
MUSIC BY KANDIA KORA (GUINEA)
MA TOGOMA
A solo dance piece where i go deep inside myself.
Its about feelings and confrontations between them, where the rules come from ancient values, society patterns, community interests...Women behaviours.
Inside 3 women resist, converge and diverge... the womanseed, the womanblossom and the womanfruit.
Three states of womanwood like water, fire and earth...
Throughout this body dissertation, some scenic elements are used such as: a fire bench, a capulana (piece of cloth in shape of long skirt) and imaginary mirrors. As 3 different moments related to this 3 different states of woman´s being: patience, consuetude and conquered beauty.
The blessed music by KANDIA KORA, who I thank infinitely, not only by his music but also because he generously completed this piece with this ancient admirable instrument named KORA.
