The Seine isn’t the largest river in Europe, or even France, but it may be the most renowned and for good reason.
This splendid waterway cuts through the heart of Paris, before winding its way along some of the most celebrated sites in Northern France.
And it is only fitting that you discover the Gems of the Seine courtesy of our very own gem.
Custom built to sail the Seine, the Scenic Gem is pure, nautical comfort. And as you enter it’s warm, inviting embrace you’ll soon begin to experience the splendour of Scenic’s all-inclusive, luxury package.
Day 2 sees the Scenic Gem glide gracefully through the Isle-de-France region to our first gem, Les Andelys.
Freechoice comes in the form of either a leisurely hike to King Richard the Lionheart’s Chateau Gaillard, or journey to Lyons la Foret, described as one of the most beautiful villages in France.
On Day 3, you awake in Rouen. After a breakfast fit for King or Queen, it's your chance to choose your own gems of the Seine adventure.
Freechoice means a walking tour of the region, where you’ll absorb the most famous historic sites of Joan of Arc and the Rouen Cathedral, both with rich tapestries of history waiting to be unraveled.
From Rouen Freechoice takes you to the Somme battlefields themselves, for a poignant full-day excursion commemorating the 100 years since that horrific World War I battle which claimed the lives of more than 150,000 soldiers. It is a touching step back into time, which is sure to elicit emotion within all who attend.
After honouring the memory of those who fought so bravely all those years ago, a lighter start to day 5 as you’ll find yourself falling in love with the scenery while we cruise toward the English Channel.
Later in the day, use your Freechoice option to explore Honfleur at your leisure. You’ll be delighted by its quaint architecture, relaxed coastal town atmosphere and kaleidoscope of colourful fishing boats.
Morning 6 and did we mention that the Scenic Gem is the only cruise ship that can sail all the way to Honfleur, making for a more direct trip to our next stop, the historic Normandy beaches.
As you wander them, allow your mind to drift emotionally back in time and replay the D-Day landings exactly where they took place. Then, at the landing museum, you’ll be immediately struck by the somber
ambience surrounding the 9,387 graves of the Normandy Cemetery.
As you depart the poignant scene, take some time to lighten your mood and walk Normandy’s famous Calavados Route, delighting in the many charming villages that adorn the landscape.
After a touching day 6, Freechoice on day 7 presents a range of breathtaking options in Caudec.
And to Enrich your day’s experience, enjoy a truly unforgettable evening in Fecamp, a classical concert at the opulent Benedictine palace.
Day 8 sees your Scenic Gem cruise toward Vernon, It certainly isn’t hard to see why this region of France inspired so many famed artists to produce some of their best work.
Later in the day Freechoice will see you stop at Giverny, where you’ll gain entry to Monet’s former residence and water lily gardens.
As you relax on the morning of day 9, it won’t be long before the distinctive architecture of the medieval town of Conflans comes into view.
Freechoice today means a trip to Auvers-sur-Oise where you’ll see, among other things, the room of legendary artist Vincent van Gogh, or step inside Chantilly Castle for a guided tour of this remarkable chateau, before walking it’s fairytale parklands.
And after a leisurely afternoon of cruising, where we encourage you to indulge in the Scenic Gem’s on board amenities, the evening will see us embark on our return to the city of love, Paris, where a spectacular skyline awaits.
And so, as we begin the final stop on our voyage through the Gems of the Seine, it is only fitting that we spend one last full day in Paris.
We hope that this is a trip that has ignited your sense of wonder
Until next time, Au Revoir.
[4K] BORDEAUX, FRANCE - Best City Walking Tour
Join us for this 4k virtual tour of Bordeaux on the Garonne River in southwest France. Experience local life on as if you were there.
Filmed in April, we start our slow tv walking tour in front of the iconic La Grosse Cloche (Great Bell) on Rue Saint-James just off Cours Victor Hugo.
Rue Saint-James is just one of many streets we'll wander where you'll find great coffee shops, restaurants and independent boutiques.
We enter Place Fernand Lafargue, a popular area for nightlife before turning right onto Rue Sainte-Colombe with it's shaded outdoor bars. Turning up Rue du Pas-Saint-Georges, and then Rue du Palais de l'Ombrière, we discover Place du Palais, site of Porte Cailhau - the historic gate with it's incredible facade.
This impressive arch leads us out onto the Quai Richelieu - and the banks of the Garonne River. Here we see the Pont de Pierre (Stone Bridge) that connects the East and West sides of the City.
We follow the river, though not as far as the Place de la Bourse and
Le Miroir D'Eau - instead our walk takes us back across the road by the Charles Dickens Pub and along Rue de la Cour des Aides to the
site of Église Saint-Pierre. This church is surrounded by great places to eat, drink and be entertained.
We follow Rue Parlement Saint-Pierre to Place du Parlement with it's much photographed fountain before heading to Rue Sainte-Catherine, Bordeaux's mots famous shopping street and often said to be the longest pedestrian street in Europe.
We finish our walk by visiting Place de la Comedie, seeing the Opéra National de Bordeaux on our right, the Intercontinental Bordeaux Le Grand Hôtel on our left (Bordeaux's most famous hotel) and seeing Carrousel Palace 1900, the city's colourful merry-go-round attraction on Allées de Tourny.
A slow walk through the city's sights and history has to be first on the list of the free top 10 things to do in Bordeaux France.

Places to see in ( Rennes - France )
Places to see in ( Rennes - France )
Rennes is the capital city of Brittany, northwest France. It's known for its medieval half-timbered houses and grand Rennes Cathedral. Parc du Thabor includes a rose garden and aviary. South of the Vilaine river, the Musée des Beaux-arts displays works by Botticelli, Rubens and Picasso. The Champs Libres cultural center houses the Musée de Bretagne (Brittany Museum) and Espace des Sciences, featuring a planetarium.
Rennes is not often mentioned on tourist guides but this medium size town is well worth a visit. It has more than 200,000 inhabitants, of whom about 60,000 are students. This gives the town a vibrant nightlife. Some streets, such as the Rue Saint Michel, have only bars on both sides. (The locals actually call Rue Saint Michel la rue de la soif, which means Street of Thirst). A stroll down Rue Saint Michel on a Friday or Saturday evening is a very interesting experience indeed. However, if you're really in the mood to faire la fête, celebrate or just have fun in other words, the most exciting night on Rue de la Soif would be the Jeudi Soir, Thursday nights, during the school year. Jeudi Soir is the night when bars are most often packed to the brim with students. The sights on Thursday nights out on the town are very memorable and interesting.
Rennes is particularly nice in early July, during the Festival des Tombées de la Nuit. Its streets are then full of people enjoying the free street entertainment and eating or drinking at the terraces of the restaurants and cafés. Rennes used to be virtually empty after the 15th of July, as most of its inhabitants were migrating to the coast until the 15th August. In recent years, this trend seems to have stopped and Rennes's terraces and cafes are now bustling throughout the year.
One highlight of Rennes, if you're after natural beauty and tranquility, is the Thabor. This park has a stunning collection of plantlife, including a large bed of hundreds of species of roses, tropical, African and European trees, other beautiful and rare plants, and offers the traveller a chance to see some budgies. Alot else to see in Rennes such as :
Le Parlement
Maison à colombages (half-timbered houses)
Mont Saint-Michel
Saint-Malo
Etangs d'Apigné
Dinan
Montfort sur Meu
Cobac Parc
