Limpopo - Haenertsburg

Located on the edge of the great escarpment Farming and tourism are the main economic activities on The Mountain as it is fondly called by the locals. Haenertsburg is in hilly terrain. The Iron Crown mountain is the highest point in Limpopo and is a well-known landmark.

Safariland Game Reserve
Safarilands Game Reserve is a relatively new Game Reserve nestled at the foothills of the malaria free Waterberg Mountains just 40km from Lephalale. Containing three of the “Big Five” namely White Rhino, Leopard and Buffalo, and then to include Hippo and Crocodile to make up the dangerous seven. Guests can choose from a variety of lodges to cater for their every need and within an affordable budget. Land marked by the flat-topped Ga-Bobididi Hills, Safarilands is well- known from every direction in the Limpopo Province.
Initiated by international investors Robert and Catherine DuHadaway in 2004, Safarilands covers 7400 hectares of prime Bushveld. The changing face from cattle ranch to game reserve has created a magnificent platform on which to build a variety of habitats for plains game and a good mixture of diverse habitats for many large and small animals alike.
Between the harsh dry western climate and the humid eastern climate of Southern Africa, the combined eco-zones give one a broad mixture of habitats and diverse geology. Safarilands boasts a wide range of mammals, birds, insects and reptiles which flourish in the area together creating a rich biodiversity. Adding further value to the area is the Palala River which host several amphibian and fish species, allowing fishermen to enjoy a full day of fun. The bird count is already in excess of over 300 species with the most popular bird sightings on the Palala River or in each lodges’ own perimeter.
