Gran Canaria Windsurf 2019: Ron Barel
In this video I'm going to share with you my latest trip to Gran Canaria Windsurf.
It’s been almost 11 years since last time I was visiting the most windiest place in the world - Pozo Izquierdo!
Basically it was a week & a half of taking down the rust :)
Gran Canaria's Pozo Izquierdo beach is a very well known place for windsurfers all over the world.
Great combination of wind & waves conditions makes it a perfect location to practice windsurf on Gran Canaria.
The place hosting the main event of the PWA (Professional Windsurfing association).
Pozo Izquierdo windsurf conditions are great all year round and many people choose this beach to learn how to windsurf and improve their skills.
Enjoy!

Thai Street Food in Bangkok - MOST POPULAR LUNCH Noodles in Downtown Silom, Thailand!
Thai street food lunch tour in Silom, Bangkok!
I met up with my friend Drew Binsky (check out his YouTube channel: and Facebook: to go on a lunch-rush street food tour of Silom.
Silom is one of the main financial business districts of Bangkok, it’s a downtown of Bangkok. Everyday at lunch floods of people from their offices come down for lunch and enjoy delicious street food. What I love so much about Silom is because it has such a vibrant and busy lunchtime rush, and that’s part of the fun.
We arrived a little early, to get a couple lunches in before the main lunch. The highlight of this Thai street food tour for me was Kuay Teow Khae (ก๋วยเตี๋ยวแคะ (โคตร โคตร) คอนแวนต์), one of the most popular lunch noodles shops in Bangkok!
Ok, here’s all the food we ate in this tour:
Khao Man Gai Ban Deed Kim (ข้าวมันไก่บัญฑิตคิม) - If you’ve ever gotten off the BTS at Sala Daeng station and walked down Soi Convent, you’ve probably walked right by this stall. And I’ve walked past it hundreds of times, but this was actually my first time to stop and eat there. They are well known in Bangkok for their khao man gai (ข้าวมันไก่), Thai style Hainanese chicken and rice. We each ordered a plate to get things started. Overall, very good, light fluffy rice with just the right amount if chicken oil, bouncy chicken, and fermented soybean sauce.
Price - 50 THB ($1.52)
Yee Jay (ยีเจ ก๋วยเตี๋ยวเนื้อตุ๋น-หมูตุ๋น) - Next we took a little walk through Silom, Downtown Bangkok, to another popular beef noodle shop. Again, it was my first time to eat here. We arrived before the main lunch rush, but at 11 am they were already preparing for the crowds with big amounts of meat waiting to be served. We had bowls of everything (เกาเหลาทุกอย่าง), including organs and braised beef. Their soup was fragrant with Chinese spices and the aroma of beef. It’s not the best bowl of braised beef soup in Bangkok, but it’s decent.
Price - 70 THB ($2.14)
Kuay Teow Khae (ก๋วยเตี๋ยวแคะ (โคตร โคตร) คอนแวนต์) - Finally for the main lunch, we went to one of the most popular Thai street food noodle stalls in Silom. For lunch everyday they are packed, every single seat, and if you arrive at a time like when we did, you have to wait to get a seat - sometimes 30 minutes or more. They have a few different options, but we all ordered their signature special bowl (เส้นโซบะยำแห้ง), including egg noodles topped with everything. This is one of the better single bowls of noodles in Bangkok in my opinion.
Price - 60 THB ($1.83)
Khanom Tokyo (ขนมโตเกียว (ลุงโตเกียว) - Lastly, to end this Thai street food tour in Bangkok, we were just walking past with Uncle Tokyo called us over to try his snacks. He makes both savory (with a hot dog) and sweet versions, filled with a variety of different custards. Drew and I had to try the hot dog, mostly just for fun… I’ll be honest, not a big fan of Thai hot dogs, but the sweet ones were great. And Uncle Tokyo is such a nice friendly man. If you are on Soi Convent in Silom around lunchtime, go say hi to him!
Price - 4 for 10 THB ($0.30)
And that completes this Thai street food tour in Silom, hope you enjoyed it!

Cape Town Safari, with African Eagle DayTours
For those on a tight time schedule, a short one day Cape safari offers the perfect way to enjoy a full safari experience within just a single day. The beautiful Inverdoorn Game Reserve is situated just two and a half hours away from Cape Town. Here a large number of wildlife and bird species can be spotted, with regular game drives and other activities to enjoy, just a short drive away from the Mother City. As the reserve is situated in the Western Cape, you never need to worry about the risk of malaria, and a one day safari is easily and conveniently slotted into your schedule as a fun day outing to enjoy some of the Cape's most stunning flora and fauna. Some of the top highlights of the African Eagle Inverdoorn one day safari include the following:
Wildlife and Birdlife
Over 1,200 wild animals can be seen at Inverdoorn, with a number of species including lion, cheetah, Rhino, eland, leopard, jackal, Cape clawless otter and many more. Bird life is equally prolific, with a number of local and migratory species to be found across the reserve. Bird species you may encounter on this Cape Town safari include African fish eagle, blackbreasted snake eagle, giant kingfisher, Cape vulture, Cape eagle owl, flamingo, ostrich, secretary bird, sacred ibis, spotted eagle owl, black stork, barn owl and jackal buzzard to name just a few. A game drive across the reserve is the perfect way to take on the plentiful game and bird life that can be found at Inverdoorn.
Close and Convenient
One of the biggest advantages to a one day safari is that it makes it possible to enjoy a full safari, while still ensuring that you have time to do everything else you plan to do on your visit to the Cape. With so much to see and do at Inverdoorn, you will have the chance to enjoy a thrilling game drive and learn more about the reserve, and also enjoy welcome drinks and lunch -- ensuring a rewarding and memorable day trip that is sure to be the highlight of your stay in the Cape. Another huge advantage is that the reserve is conveniently situated just two and a half hours outside of Cape Town. This is one of the only reserves of this size situated this close to Cape Town, making it a convenient way to enjoy a full safari experience just outside the city.
The Klein Karoo
The Klein Karoo area is one of the most beautiful areas within the Western Cape, bounded on the north by the Swartberg, and on the south by the Langeberg and Outeniqua mountains. This area was first explored by European settlers in the late 17th century, who came across only Khoisan people living in this dry area. Today, the area is one of the most popular travel destinations in the Cape, with a number of fascinating small towns including Ladismith, Calitzdorp, De Rust, and well-known mission stations such as Zoar, Amalienstein, Barrydale, Dysselsdorp and Ceres. No tour through the Klein Karoo would be complete without a visit to Inverdoorn however!

Visit Kyrgyzstan - Issyk-Kul Lake Travel Guide (south shore) video transcript:
For the next leg of our travels in Kyrgyzstan (
Кыргызстан), we made our way to the Bel Tam Yurt Camp on the south shores of Issyk Kul Lake (Ысык-Көл). We used this as our base for 3 days and from there, we took a few different side trips to some of the most popular sights and attractions in the area. Here’s a taste of what we got up to:
For this half-day trek, we drove from Bokonbayevo (Бөкөнбаев) to the Boz Salkyn Jailoo. Once we arrived at the yurt camp, we met our horses and set off on an incredibly scenic ride.
The second stretch of the trek involved riding uphill through the forest, but once we broke through the tree line, we were treated to amazing views of the surrounding area. The horses got a little break to munch on wildflowers, and we sat down to enjoy a picnic.
We had been hearing a lot about Skazka from fellow travellers staying at our yurt camp, so we were really looking forward to visiting.
The canyon’s name is very fitting as the landscapes really do look straight out of a fairy tale. There are parts where the hills look like they’ve been painted in shades of terracotta, rust, and ochre, and then you also have natural rock formations that rise from the ground. It’s a really nice place for a light hike and a bit of photo taking.
While the water of the sacred springs may be the main draw for pilgrims, for us, this attraction was more about the scenery. Narrow trails wind up, down, and around the hills and it makes for a fun hike through some pretty surreal landscapes. Just don’t forget to bring some water, because the sun can be really strong.
The yurt-building workshop was located in Kyzyl-Tuu Village.
Here we met Tolosun and his family, who all work together to bring the yurts to life. Everything you need for the yurts, from the wooden poles that make up the ceiling to the felt that provides insulation, is made here by different members of his family.
We also learned that this family holds the record for fastest yurt-building time clocking in under 10 minutes. They did it a bit slower for us so that we could understand and help out with the process, but needless to say, they’re pros at this.
Back in town, we made our way to Federation Salburuun, which is a group focused on keeping alive the tradition of eagle hunting that’s been passed down to nomads for centuries.
Eagle hunting happens during the winter months, but during the summer months you can attend demonstrations to learn about this tradition and watch eagles training with furs and hides.
Aside from eagle hunting, the group also practices archery and horseback archery.
We can’t talk about our visit to Issyk Kul’s (Иссык-Куль) South Shore without also mentioning the Bel Tam Yurt Camp.
Not only was staying in a yurt pretty cool, but we loved the friendly staff and the camaraderie amongst travellers at the camp. They had a massive dining tent where everyone gathered for communal dinners.
The highlight was getting to know other travellers and swapping tips and stories about Kyrgyzstan.
This is part of our Travel in Kyrgyzstan video series showcasing Kyrgyz food, Kyrgyz culture and Kyrgyz cuisine.

Life Aquatic fun in the Western Cape
I decided to do something a little different with this movie and add a human touch as well as show some of the above water attractions you can experience in Cape Town and it's surroundings.
The Penguins are from boulders beach in Simon's Town.
All diving footage shot in False Bay.
The huge sand dune was filmed at Arniston near the Southern Most tip of Africa, a fantastic place to visit and hoping to dive it soon now in the winter months!

Sailing into a 50 KNOT GALE- Worst Storm We've Ever Seen- Sailing SV Delos Ep. 93
Sailing to Madagascar we get hit by the biggest gale we've ever seen. We're about 240 miles East of the northern cape of Madagascar when the GRIB files start to show a compressed pressure gradient and forecasts of 30-40 knots.
We shorten sail and prepare for the rough weather. The forecast is way too low and we end up seeing 50 knots of wind and 7-10M (20-30 ft) waves during the worst part of it, which of course happens at night. The crew gets tossed around like crazy and everyone is forced to stay in their bunks while Capt. Breeyawn and The Braidster take 30 minute shifts hand steering down the waves all night long. It's a really intense experience but Delos is a strong boat and takes very good care of us.
This is our story, a story of three souls sailing around the world. It is a story about sailing, but it's also a story about the fantastic people we meet and amazing places we see. It's a story of people living their lives in an alternate way, in close connection with the beautiful people and amazing planet that we call home. Our experience has affected us so profoundly we want to share it, hoping that others may find inspiration to follow their dreams and do what they love.
