20 things to do in Lisbon Travel Guide
Lisbon was the final stop of our European tour and we couldn't have chosen a better destination. The city immediately won us over with it's cheery pastel buildings, delicious fresh seafood, and it's unique mix of attractions. It also didn't hurt that we had clear blue skies the whole week we were there! The following video will highlight 20 things to do in Lisbon and we hope it will give you a few ideas of some of the sights this beautiful city has to offer.

Our first stop of the day was Sao Jorge Castle, which is an old Moorish fortification that sits on a hill overlooking Lisbon and the Tagus River. You can get some nice panoramic views of the city from here, and they also have peacocks roaming the grounds.
Miradouro das Portas do Sol is one of the many look out points in Lisbon that offers postcard-perfect views of the city. This particular terrace overlooks the Alfama district and it is always popular with tourists.
Carmo is a mediaeval convent that was ruined during the 1755 earthquake, and today it is used as an archaeological museum. It's a strange feeling walking down the ruined nave of the church and seeing blue skies above your head, but that's exactly what makes it worth a visit.
Another place to visit is Belem Tower. The tower was built on the banks of the Tagus River, and it was meant to act as both a defense system and a ceremonial gateway into Lisbon.
The Jeronimos Monastery is one of the most visited sights in Lisbon. It's one of the best examples of Late Gothic Manueline architecture, so have a close look at the intricate detailing when you visit.
A fun way to get around Lisbon's hilly streets is by riding the trams. There are different lines across the city, but #28 is the most popular one with visitors.
The Santa Justa lift is an elevator that connects the lower streets of Baixa with Carmo Square, and it is the only remaining vertical elevator in Lisbon. Though it is meant to serve a functional role, it is also quite popular with visitors who find the elevator a novel idea.

LISBON SIGHTSEEING, April 2017 | 4K-UHD
Surprisingly splendid AND sweet city of Lisbon, as I've seen it from the sightseeing doubledeckers and ancient trams - and some long, long walks through its lovely touristic traps and attractions.
My first intention here was the making of a what you see is what you get-footage - as much realistic as I only could, and yes, this video is absolutely free of any kind of video doctoring.
So I hope that if you would watch this movie on some decent 4K UHD big display, in the 4K-Youtube quality, you could probably get the blues about Lisbon and its lovely residents. BTW, I will gladely answer any reasonable question regarding the content of this movie or my experience in Lisbon.
Taped with Lumix GX85 with 12-32mm and 45-150mm lenses without the use of tripod or external electronic stabilizers.

Coimbra
Lar de uma das universidades mais antigas da Europa, Coimbra é um dos principais centros de arte e cultura de Portugal há mais de 500 anos. Localizada nas pitorescas margens do rio Mondego, a cidade desce a encosta em direção à água, revelando cada um deles um novo tesouro arquitetónico, das catedrais do Renascimento e do Barroco aos palácios de inspiração moura. A universidade é uma parte fundamental do tecido da cidade: é composta de pátios ricamente decorados, edifícios universitários que datam do século 16, e a biblioteca Joanine , uma mistura extraordinária de elegância e decadência, e um verdadeiro paraíso do bibliófilo.
Évora
Évora é membro da rede das Cidades Mais Antigas da Europa, e basta uma olhada na cidade para mostrar porquê. A cidade é extraordinariamente bem preservada, ostentando vestígios das muralhas medievais originais da cidade, palácios que datam dos séculos XIV a XVII, e os belos vestígios do Templo Romano de Évora, um templo do século I dedicado ao imperador Augusto. Intercaladas com os remanescentes monumentais da história de Évora, há ruelas sinuosas e ruas movimentadas, com casas tradicionais caiadas de branco, com telhado vermelho e bosques tranquilos de árvores.
Guimarães
A cidade histórica de Guimarães foi distinguida com o estatuto de Património Mundial da UNESCO pela sua arquitetura e história extraordinariamente bem preservadas e pelo papel fundamental que desempenhou ao longo da história portuguesa e na formação da nação portuguesa. Guimarães chama a atenção por seus numerosos exemplos de edifícios que tipificam os desenvolvimentos arquitetônicos da Idade Média aos dias atuais: os arcos medievais em ruínas se misturam com casas tradicionais de enxaimel do século XVI e pequenas capelas góticas. Com vista para a cidade é o monumental castelo de Guimarães, um casamento único entre os estilos românico e gótico, e um dos castelosmais impressionantes de Portugal .
Óbidos
Uma pitoresca cidade no topo da colina, na costa oeste de Portugal, Óbidos se desenvolveu ao longo dos anos, de um pequeno povoado romano a uma bela e próspera cidade. A cidade é cercada por suas muralhas medievais originais, e a maioria dos visitantes entram na cidade através do portão único da cidade, decorado com intrincados azulejos e pinturas. A cidade manteve em grande parte um ambiente histórico e intocado: ruas de paralelepípedos passam por casas caiadas de branco, cobertas de madressilvas doces e flores coloridas, e levam até o impressionante castelo mourisco que coroa a cidade.
Porto
A segunda maior cidade de Portugal, o Porto manteve o seu charme único e uma cultura fascinante, apesar do seu tamanho crescente. Edifícios coloridos disputam espaço entre mansões barrocas e igrejas medievais em ruínas, enquanto que sob partes da cidade ficam as adegas que armazenam a exportação mais famosa da cidade: o vinho do porto. O centro histórico da cidade foi declarado Patrimônio Mundial da UNESCO graças aos seus belos edifícios de época e ruas sinuosas e estreitas com vista para a frente do rio pitoresco, acrescentando um toque de romance à cidade antiga.

I really regretted not staying in the Alentejo, instead of the Algarve. I fell in love with those vast landscapes. I decided to drive over there on my last day in Portugal.

Portuguese Village Festivals in Amoreira, Reixida, and Golpilheira - Portugal 2018
The summer is the season of the festivals or, as it is known in Portuguese, festas, in honour of a patron saint.
Each town and village will have its own summer festival, usually a 4-day event. A festa is a top event in the social life of the town.
If you are visiting Portugal as a tourist or traveller, this is where you will find yourself among the Portuguese. Festivals held in small towns and villages are primarily for local residents. Go off the tourist path and visit these places to experience the local traditions and culture.
