Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico - Merida is an a beautiful, well organized, clean, and friendly city in Mexico, and the capital of the Yucatan State. We only had one full day in Merida on this trip, and so we wanted to make the most of it. I’m taking you on a one day Mexican street food and attractions tour of Merida!
Taqueria La Lupita - In the morning we first headed to a local market to eat breakfast. Taqueria La Lupita is a very cool breakfast spot where you can eat local Mexican Yucatan food. We tried some tacos de conchinta pibil, panuchos, relleno negro, and mondongo kabi. The panuchos were the winner.
Total price - 238 MXN ($12.64) for all
Maiz, Canela y Cilantro - It’s always good to have breakfast number 2, and this wasn’t a street food spot, but a nice cafe, and great for families. The reason I wanted to come here was to try their version of Huevos Motuleños, a Mexican egg dish originating from a small town of the same name not far away. It was a stunner.
Total price - 300 MXN ($15.94) for all
Plaza Grande and Horse Ride - Moving on to some of the sightseeing and attractions in Merida, we walked around Plaza Grande and took a horse ride to see some sights around the city. It was wonderful, to enjoy Merida from a horse carriage.
Mango - 15 MXN ($0.80) - One our way to the market, we stopped for a mango. Always delicious!
Mercado Lucas de Galvez - For lunch we headed to one of the main markets in the center of Merida called Mercado Lucas de Galvez. After walking around for a while we went upstairs and found a couple friendly aunties who cooked up a storm. We tried their, mole, relleno negro again, and sopa de Lima, which was the ultimate dish of the day for me.
Total price - 300 MXN ($15.94) for all
Restaurant y Cockteleria Tikinxic II - Finally for dinner I had really wanted to try a Mayan fish dish called tikin xic before leaving the Yucatan, so we searched out a Mexican seafood restaurant to try. It was a little outside of the center of the city, but it was pretty good.
Total price - 758 MXN ($40.27) for all
This was a fantastic day of Mexican street food in Merida. Merida is one of the most pleasant cities to explore in Mexico!

Yucatan
Yucatan is conveniently located with extremely easy access. Its strategic location places it 36 hours by sea and 1.5 hours by plane from the United States.
Its infrastructure is among the best found in Mexico, with a rapid, efficient and economic transportation and logistics systems to facilitate all operations. Transportation costs from Yucatan to the U.S. are 20% less when purchased in Mexico or from Central America to similar destinations.
The State of Yucatan is bordered on the north and west by the Gulf of Mexico, on the east with the State of Quintana Roo and on the west and southwest with the State of Campeche.
It is truly a privileged geographic position, with its position on the Gulf of Mexico allowing access to the coasts of the southern United States. In fact, the most important cities of Florida, Texas, Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi are from 90 to 120 minutes flight from the international airport of Merida, capital of the State of Yucatan.
As for lodging, Merida offers multiple options according to the event: from modern to traditional hotels, henequen haciendas now converted into gran tourism class hotels, and beach hotels. Large congresses can find their place here, as well as conventions and expositions.
Merida is among the most secure and safest cities in all of Mexico, not to mention our special police division for tourists, assisting them all the time.
Merida
THE WHITE CITY
Capital of the state of Yucatan, Merida is known as the white city for its clean streets, houses and people, and it is an obligatory starting and finishing point for those visiting the state of Yucatan.
It was founded by the Spanish in 1542 on the remains of the ancient Mayan settlement of Ichcaanzihó, and was named by the conquistadores after the city of Merida in Spain.
The city was laid out according to Spanish traditions, and the sacred stones of the native temples were used to build houses and buildings for the conquistadores, as well as temples to the new Christian faith.
In Merida the old and the new, respect for inherited tradition and modern urban development blend with originality and grandeur. The traveller can find a whole range of possibilities walking the streets and visiting points of interest such as museums, parks, markets, malls and stores selling handcrafts and traditional clothing.
Merida is well known for its hospitality. Its population is one of the most friendly, kindness and warmth of Mexico.
Merida has all the tourist might require to complete his enjoyment of this beautiful Mexican provincial city.
Autumn weather in Merida and the Yucatan Peninsula is hot, in general 86º -68º F ( 30º C ,20º C) , with occasional tropical rain showers. It is recommended you wear informal/casual work clothing, and comfortable walking shoes for the tours.
Most mayor credit cards are accepted in Mexico at all hotels, restaurants, shopping malls and stores. There are several banks and ATM close to the hotels.
A passport is required to enter the country as well as a tourist visa that will be issued at your city's Mexican Consulate or through the airline that you will be flying. Very few nationalities require a visa to enter Mexico.

Join us to know this cave that is the biggest known of Yucatan state but it's not only beautiful but interesting for being an archaeological site with human presence as old as 9000 years. Playa Del Carmen Trip Video
Playa del Carmen Trip Video - Playa del Carmen, now the third-largest city in Quintana Roo, is the trendiest spot on all of the Yucatán Peninsula. Sitting coolly on the lee side of Cozumel, the towns beaches are jammed with superfit Europeans. The waters arent as clear as those of Cancún or Cozumel, and the beach sands arent quite as champagne-powder-perfect as they are further north, but still Playa (as its locally known) grows and grows.
Strolling down Playa del Carmens pedestrian corridor, Quinta Avenida (keen-ta; 5 Avenida), is a fabulous game of see-and-be-seen. La Nueva Quinta (New Fifth Ave) is also called La Zona Italiana for the number of Italians operating businesses there. It begins on Calle 22 and stretches north for 10 blocks.
The town is ideally located: close to Cancúns international airport, but far enough south to allow easy access to Cozumel, Tulum, Cobá and other worthy destinations. The reefs here are excellent, and offer diving and snorkeling close by. Look for rays, moray eels, sea turtles and a huge variety of corals. The lavender sea fans make for very picturesque vistas.
