The Autonomous Community of Catalonia or the Catalan region is located in the northeast of the Iberian Peninsula.
It is composed of four provinces: Barcelona, Tarragona, Lleida and Girona.
There is much diversity of scenery and terrain; the provinces are fertile, watered by rivers and have long coastal zones with the exception of Lleida, which is landlocked. The three coastline provinces of Barcelona, Tarragona and Girona, offer a wide selection of hotels and good beaches.

The province of Tarragona is one of the four provinces that make up the Autonomous Community of Catalonia.
Situated on the beautiful Costa Dorada the province boasts a coastline of beautiful golden sand beaches, shallow waters and historical towns and cities.

In this episode we explore the must see sites in the spanish city of Tarragona, Located south of Barcelona Tarragona is one of our favourite cities and it had a really nice Mediterranean vibe about it.
In fact we liked it so much that we ended up sleeping there for 2 nights.
We found a great free secure parking with services a short drive from the city , which acted as a great over night stop.

In case you don't know us - let us introduce ourselves - we are Chris (48) & Marianne (51). We recently quit our jobs and sold our belongings to travel full time.
After more than 22 years of marriage we are still best friends - (there's a travel couple goal for you).
The aim is we are going to step foot in every country in the world before we die - or die trying !. We are currently also planning an epic around the world road trip. So stayed tuned for more clips as we TREAD the Globe in either Trudy the TREAD camper van or armed with our backpacks!

Top Things to do in Catalunya - Tarragona: Doing Rome in a Day
Catalonia (or Catalunya) is one of the most beautiful parts of Spain. Tarragona, only an hour from Barcelona, is one of our favorite cities to visit in Catalunya. It's a perfect mix of beach and Roman ruins, and a great walk-able city. Do all the things! Our kid vloggers detail all the fun of the Roman ruins in Tarragona, including the Roman Circus (clowns anyone?), and the Roman Amphitheater.

Spain's Costa Dorada (or Dourada) translates as the Gold Coast thanks to the sun-kissed beaches which skirt around more than 100 miles of coastline southwest of Barcelona.
Salou is the region's primary resort, a haven for families with young children, and the epitome of the mass market tourism traditionally so popular with British holidaymakers. Away from the high-rise, however, the area's true culture and flavour remain intact. The Old World ornateness of towns like Tarragona and Sitges, the pine-scented hills of Sierra de Prades, and the vineyards of Penedes are all testament to this.

GIRONA DAY TRIP FROM BARCELONA | Spain Travel Guide
A Day Trip to Girona, Spain is a must if you're visiting Barcelona! Only a 38 minute train ride via RENFE from Sants Station in Barcelona, Girona is an old fortified city with Roman Walls and a beautiful cathedral as the centerpiece. Explore the Roman Baths, Jewish Quarter and the Barri Vell. Also walk along the River Anyar and discover the Eiffel Bridge, yes that's right Gustavo Eiffel the engineer behind the Eiffel Tower in Paris left his mark in Girona with the Eiffel Bridge. Also a city popular for Cycling, we head to La Fabrica for brunch which is a cycle cafe and awesome spot for high quality coffee!

Sitges - The Jewel on the Mediterranean
Sitges is known as the ‘Jewel on the Mediterranean’ and offers many facets to cater for all tastes. Reputed to offer 300 days of sunshine a year, it is a quaint little coastal town surrounded by the hills of the Garraf National Park.
Sitges old town has typically Spanish narrow streets leading down to a palm tree lined promenade that runs along an open bay with it's many beaches.
The town has been built on an industry of fishing, commerce and wine, and has been much favored by artists, the bohemian crowd and more recently has developed a large gay community. A tourist resort since the 1800s, Sitges offers much more than just a beach resort.
Sitges is located just to the south of Barcelona, and is about a 20 minute drive from Barcelona’s El Prat international airport.
