Canada's Road to 150 is a 150-day Canada-wide multi-media road trip celebrating Canada's 150th birthday by exploring the uniqueness of this country provincially and collectively while answering the question; What makes Canada special?
We drove to and through every driveable province and territory, showcasing Canada's natural beauty and regional attractions while interviewing Canadians of all cultures and backgrounds, including local celebrities, immigrants, refugees, and everyday rural and urban Canadians. Our aim is to dig deep into what makes Canada such an incredibly inspiring country while showing off the best of Canada's tourism to Canadians and to the world.

There are no all-inclusive tourist passes in Glasgow, seeing as most of the attractions are free. However, a leaflet entitled Glasgow's Leading Attractions contains vouchers giving discounts to some attractions, such as the Willow Tea Rooms and a tour of the School of Art. This is available from the Tourist Information Centre or online
Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum
This gallery and museum, which underwent a £28 million refurbishment in 2006, houses 8,000 works of art, including a range of European paintings covering the 15th to the 17th centuries and the 1890s to the 1960s, as well as arms, armour, archaeology and natural history displays. There is also a collection of Egyptian treasures, a gallery dedicated to Charles Rennie Mackintosh and a Spitfire LA198 from the Glasgow Squadron. The permanent Glasgow 1900 exhibition features paintings, furniture and decorative art objects dating from turn-of-the-century Glasgow. Don't miss Salvador Dali's Christ of St John of the Cross, an affecting vision of the crucifixion painted as if from above.

St Mungo Museum of Religious Life and Art
This unusual museum has exhibitions that cover all the major religions and includes a Zen garden and a Mexican Day of the Dead skeleton. A short walk away is Glasgow Cathedral, founded by the city's patron saint, St Kentigern (or Mungo), in the sixth century - the present building dates from the 14th century.
Adjacent to the cathedral is the remarkable Necropolis, a Victorian garden cemetery that has some intriguing funerary architecture including pieces by Rennie Mackintosh and Alexander 'Greek' Thomson.

The Burrell Collection
The most famous of Glasgow's art museums, The Burrell Collection is a donation of 8,000 works of art from shipping magnate Sir William Burrell. In addition to paintings and drawings from the 15th to 19th century, the collection includes medieval European tapestries, stained glass and sculpture, as well as artworks from the Middle East and East Asia. The gallery opened in 1983, in the beautiful setting of Pollok Country Park. Also situated within the park is Pollok House , a fine old Georgian country house owned by the National Trust for Scotland. A courtesy bus runs around the park and stops at the Burrell buildings.

Gallery of Modern Art
Centrally located in the middle of Royal Exchange Square, the Gallery of Modern Art offers an up-to-date vision within its four floors of gallery space. Showcasing the works of living artists, the gallery has an eye on the future, with a learning library and art workshops. The elegant, neoclassical building itself is worth a look and offers a calming retreat from Glasgow's hectic shopping scene.

Glasgow School of Art
Designed by Mackintosh, the Glasgow School of Art is the great architect's masterpiece. Not only are there the organic architectural flourishes of the surprisingly airy building but also the library (containing all the original furnishings, except the chairs, which have been replaced by others designed by Mackintosh) and the Mackintosh Room , which has a selection of furniture designed for the houses he built. Since it is a working art school, admission is by guided tour only, at specified times. During the peak season, visitors are advised to reserve in advance.

SUBSCRIBE: - Let's go to the beautiful city of Leamington Spa in England and let's visit the beautiful Je[phson Gardens. First laid out in 1831 as informal riverside walks in Leamington, the original Newbold Gardens were developed as more formal pleasure grounds after 1846 in honour of Dr Henry Jephson, who had promoted the town as a spa.
The Jephson Gardens gained renown for their entertainments, military bands, promenading, croquet and tennis, fountains, illuminations, trees and flowers. They are listed as Grade II on the English Heritage register of historic parks and gardens.

Port Glasgow is the second largest town in the Inverclyde council area of Scotland. The population according to the 1991 census for Port Glasgow was 19,426 persons and in the 2001 census was 16,617 persons. The most recent census in 2011 states that the population has declined to 15,414. It is located immediately to the east of Greenock and was previously a burgh in the former county of Renfrew.
The town was originally named Newark but due to ships not being able to make it all the way up the shallow river Clyde it was formed as a port for nearby Glasgow in 1668 and became Port Glasgow in 1775. Port Glasgow was home to dry docks and shipbuilding beginning in 1762.
The town grew from the central area of the present town and thus many of the town's historic buildings are found here. Port Glasgow expanded up the steep hills inland to open fields where areas such as Park Farm, Boglestone, Slaemuir and Devol were founded. This area has subsequently become known as upper Port Glasgow and most of the town's population occupies these areas.
The town is served by Port Glasgow railway station (main station) in the town centre and Woodhall railway station in the east end of the town. Both stations are on the electrified Inverclyde Line which has frequent services to the termini at Glasgow Central, Gourock and Wemyss Bay. All trains stop at Port Glasgow, Woodhall has a less frequent service.
From 1869 to 1959 the town was also served by rail at Port Glasgow Upper railway station on the Greenock and Ayrshire Railway. This station was later demolished. The town is connected to nearby Glasgow by the A8 dual carriageway and the M8 motorway. Glasgow Airport located 21 km (13 mi) to the east is the closest airport to Port Glasgow.
The origins of Port Glasgow go back to the construction by Sir George Maxwell between 1450 and 1477 of the New Werke of Finlastoun, which became Newark Castle. At a good anchorage near the castle, a small fishing hamlet known as Newark formed, like other scattered hamlets along the shores of the River Clyde.
Newark Castle stands very close to the shore of the Clyde, and dates to around 1484. It was home to the Maxwell Family, but they no longer lived in the castle after 1694. By 1800 the castle was surrounded by shipyards, but today only Ferguson's shipyard remains, standing immediately to the west of the castle. A park and waterfront walkway have been constructed to the east, on the site of Lamont's shipyard and Smith & Houston's shipbreaking yard.
About a mile upstream from the castle and its surrounding park, several acres of the Clyde foreshore at Parklea are owned by the National Trust for Scotland. For many years the land has been leased to the local council as playing fields. When the NTS acquired the land it was regarded as protecting the foreshore from the widespread acquisition by shipyards. However, this did not prevent the construction of extensive timber ponds along this stretch of the river.

Glasgow Scotland is known for its historic sites and the friendliest people with Scottish charm, but did you know they have a TON of FREE MUSEUMS that are completely kid friendly! And did I say they are just about all FREE! Watch us visit the Hunterian Museum at Glasgow University with dinosaur bones, mummies and Roman artifacts.
