Bomburu Ella (Widest Waterfall in Sri Lanka)
The waterfall is 50 Meters (165 feet) in height and waters of Bomburu Ella has been diverted to a powerhouse in that area and also for cultivation purposes. The waterfall originated from Kotakithula Mountain(2015 meters) and the walk towards the fall is a interesting one.

Srí Lanke som sa dlhé roky vyhýbal, mal som totižto pocit, že krajina bude plná turistov a nepríjemných domácich. Dva týždne sme trávili v Južnej Indii, odkiaľ to je na Srí Lanku už len na skok a tak som sa rozhodol predsa jej dať šancu. Na moje prekvapenie, moje obavy sa absolútne nenaplnili. Pekné horské dedinky striedali krásne takmer prázdne pláže a ja som si pocit, byť na opustenej pláži, mohol vychutnať prvýkrát v živote. Samozrejme, že som oddychovať na pláži dlho nevydržal a navštivili sme miesta: Colombo, Kandy, , Nuwara Eliya, Pinnawala, Ella, Galle, Weligama.
Mne osobne sa veľmi páčilo a neviem sa dočkať ďaľšej návštevy!

Mahakudagala aka Mahakudugala Mountain, Halgran Oya, Ragala (2017) – 1 of 6
Mahakudagala which has actually derived from Mahakudugala or spelled quite funnily as “Mahacoodagalla” by the planters during the colonial era. She’s the 10th Highest Mountain of Sri Lanka with a height of 2100.7m (6892ft) and has managed to enter the top 10 list by beating the One Tree Hill aka Single Tree Hill by just 2ft.
This is not a strenuous hike but you must seek the help of a villager as the path to the summit can be quite difficult to find. You’ll have to first walk through the Mahakudagala Tea Estate and then enter the forest and start your uphill journey.
Once at the top, you can see most of the upcountry towns such as Padiyapelella, Rikillagaskada and most notably the Piduruthalagala Summit. However, one would have to travel on a clear sunny day as when we visited, it was nothing but the thick mist and there was no view to be had.
One would need to take Nuwara Eliya-Kandapola-Highforest Road and make a stop at a small town called Halgran Oya or Halgaran Oya and then reach the now abandoned Mahakudgala Tea Factory. From here, it’s the tea estate and line houses and you should be able to find a guide.
As always, please don’t dump your litter especially polythene and plastic. Do help save our Mother Nature and enjoy it without harming her.

Trek to Nawgala (Navugala) Rock, Galigamuwa (2018) – 6 of 8
Nawgala Rock is a mountain located in Nawgala Watta (Ambanpitiya Estate) off Galigamuwa, Kegalle District. The name Nawgala, translated into English as Rocky Ship, has come about due to its shape with Telecommunications Towers along the range depicting the masts of a ship. It’s 320m (1,050 ft) in height at the highest point.
Ambanpitiya Estate is situated along the lower part of this rock while Nawgala village is at the base of the rock. The Nawgala Range has a couple of houses and also a few Shrines (Devalaya) where people come to worship.
Nawgala is considered to be one of the best view points of Kegalle. Whole Kegalle city can be seen from one end of Nawgala. Uthuwankanda aka Saradiel Rock, Alagalla, Handurukanda, Belgoda Mountain, Parape Mountains, Balumgala at Kadugannawa, Wakirigala, Bathalegala, Urakanda, Samasara Kanda and Dolosbage Mountain Range are some of the prominent mountains that can easily viewed from this rock.
