1. Rushton Triangular Lodge Rushton
Rushton is a small hamlet and civil parish in Northamptonshire. It is about 2 miles north-east of Rothwell and 3 miles north-west of Kettering. The parish covers 3,200 acres and is situated on both sides of the River Ise. It contains the sites of three deserted settlements, details of which are set out below. At the time of the 2001 census, the parish's population was 452 people, increasing slightly to 461 at the 2011 Census. The village has a primary school a pub opposite the village cricket pitch, a health retreat, bed and breakfast and hotel. There is a bus service that runs through the village linking Rushton to neighbouring towns. It goes hourly and the bus stop is opposite the pub, the Thornhill arms.

Blenheim & Woodstock was a railway station constructed in the neoclassical style which served the town of Woodstock and Blenheim Palace in the English county of Oxfordshire. The station, as well as the line, was constructed by the Duke of Marlborough and was privately run until 1897 when it became part of the Great Western Railway. The number of trains serving the station was cut in the late 1930s, and again in 1952 down to only six trains a day. The last train ran on 27 February 1954 adorned with a wreath. The park holds over 165 species of exotic animals, among other attractions such as a small theme park. The park contains the largest groups of white lions, cheetahs, hippopotami, and meerkats in the UK, as well as the largest lemur walk-through exhibit. It was also the first park in the UK to have the African big five game animals.The park is a member of the British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquariums and the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria . Places to see in ( Northampton - UK )

Northampton is the county town of Northamptonshire in the East Midlands of England. It lies on the River Nene, about 67 miles north-west of London and 50 miles south-east of Birmingham.

Northampton rose to national significance with the establishment of Northampton Castle, which was an occasional royal residence and regularly hosted the Parliament of England. Medieval Northampton had many churches, monasteries and the University of Northampton, which were all enclosed by the town walls. It was granted its first town charter by King Richard I in 1189 and its first mayor was appointed by King John in 1215. The town is also the site of two medieval battles; the Battle of Northampton (1264) and the second in 1460.

Northampton's royal connection languished in the modern period; the town supported Parliament (the Roundheads) in the English Civil War, which culminated in King Charles II ordering the destruction of the town walls and most of the castle. The town also suffered the Great Fire of Northampton (1675) which destroyed most of the town. It was soon rebuilt and grew rapidly with the industrial development of the 18th century. Northampton continued to grow following the creation of the Grand Union Canal and the arrival of the railways in the 19th century, becoming an industrial centre for footwear and leather manufacture.

After the World Wars, Northampton's growth was limited until it was designated as a New Town in 1968, accelerating development in the town. Northampton unsuccessfully applied for unitary status in 1996 and city status in 2000; the town continues to expand with many areas undergoing urban renewal.

Rushton Triangular Lodge a new series of short films documenting some of England's Heritage.

Join us on our History Roadshow as we travel around bringing you the sights and sounds of historical places in the UK.

We start our journey at Rushton Lodge, Northamptonshire.

Rushton Triangular Lodge is one of the most extraordinary buildings in England, if not the world.

Built by Sir Thomas Tresham it was planned in 1593 and built between 1594 and 1596.

It was originally built as the warreners lodge, where the keeper of Treshams profitable rabbit warren at Rushton could live and pursue his business.

The agricultural use was combined with a symbolic one as a testament to Treshams faith, the number 3 symbolising the holy trinity which is apparent everywhere

He lived in a protestant England at a time when Catholics were regarded by Elizabeth the 1st government with great suspicion.

After 12 years away from his home, including imprisonment or detention for his religious beliefs he was allowed to return to Rushton.

Its now he then started work on building the lodge.
