Hunter Valley Steamfest 30th Anniversary, 9th to 10th April 2016 - Part 1
From Saturday 9th April to Sunday 10th April 2016, the annual Hunter Valley Steamfest was held at Maitland, with this year being the 30th Anniversary of Steamfest. It was a very special occassion. Locomotives that attended the event were:
-5917 - Lachlan Valley Railway
-3642 - Transport Heritage NSW
-3016 - Canberra Railway Museum
-6029 - Canberra Railway Museum
This was the first time Garratt 6029 had attended Maitland Steamfest. Railmotor's CPH 1,3 and 7 and 621/721 from the Rail Motor Society were also at the event, along with a number of Diesel Locomotives including 4001, 4490, 4520, 4803, GL102 and GL106.
There were many highlights and attractions from Train Rides, the Rally Ground and Market Stalls. The biggest highlight by far was the Great Train Race on Sunday 10th April, which featured all four Steam Locomotives competing against four tiger moth planes from Waratah to Maitland. DC6029 had won the race. The 2016 Hunter Valley Steamfest - 30th Anniversary was an event that every railway enthusiast will remember for a long time.
Here is Part 1 of our footage from Saturday 9th April. We see trains in action around Maitland Station, and we have a look at the Model Railway Display in the Old Signal Box at the station.
ENJOY!

MORE trains at Summer Hill station
Various trains at Summer Hill in Sydney. These include K sets, V sets (intercity), M sets (Millennium trains), A sets (Waratah trains) H sets (OSCars) and an S set (seen at 0:23).
Sydney's suburban network is operated by Sydney Trains. The network consists of seven separate lines and 176 stations. The network's hub is at Central station, which serves as an interchange with light rail, intercity and regional train services.
There are currently 48 four-carriage S sets in service, or 24 in eight-carriage formation.
All of Sydney's suburban trains, as well as all electric trains operating intercity services, have two decks. It's an interesting feature to those from outside Sydney's suburban and intercity networks. It also means that crowding is as minimal as it can be for a mass-transit system that carries 325 million people per year across 176 stations.
Road Trip to the Pyramids of Giza
This is the trip in the car from our hotel to the Pyramids. Look at the creek and all the rubbish in it, empty skip bins lay waiting while the river slowly fills up. This is less than a kilometre from one of the most famous tourist destinations in the world. Egypt needs to get their tourist act together or Google and YouTube will replace this tourist destination.
