Portland Head Light, is a historic lighthouse in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. The light station sits on a head of land at the entrance of the primary shipping channel into Portland Harbor, which is within Casco Bay in the Gulf of Maine. Completed in 1791, it is the oldest lighthouse in the state of Maine. The light station is automated, and the tower, beacon, and foghorn are maintained by the United States Coast Guard, while the former lighthouse keepers' house is a maritime museum within Fort Williams Park.

The Flume Gorge is a natural gorge extending 800 feet horizontally at the base of Mount Liberty in Franconia Notch State Park, New Hampshire, United States. Discovered in 1808 by 93-year-old Aunt Jess Guernsey, the Flume is now a paid attraction that allows visitors to walk through the gorge.

Shem Creek has a boardwalk offering panoramic views of the marsh and Charleston Harbor. A total of 2,200 feet long, the boardwalk runs from Coleman Boulevard to near the mouth of the creek. Standing at the harbor end of the walkway, you can see all the way from Fort Sumter to Castle Pinckney.

Hilton Head Island is sometimes referred to as the second largest barrier island on the Eastern Seaboard after Long Island, NY. The island is named after Captain William Hilton, who in 1663 identified a headland near the entrance to Port Royal Sound, which he named Hilton's Head after himself. The island is shoe-shaped and lies 20 miles northeast of Savannah, Georgia, and 90 miles south of Charleston, SC.
