My Cuba Tourist Highjack Drive Through Villa Clara Province
Take this plane to Cuba! Err...I mean take this YouTube Channel to Cuba! lol. Since 97% of Americans have never traveled to Cuba, I share some of my archival footage from 8 months ago that I shot on a typical communist propaganda bus drive between Santa Clara and my hotel on the northern central coast at Cayo Santa Maria. It at least allows viewers a slight taste of what Cuba looks like outside of Havana. This narration is the sanitized official stuff all tourist hear. The real Cuba awaits all who dare rent or hire a car to see this country on your own terms, which is the best way to take in the dwindling Castro regime and the kind spirited nature of the Cuban people. This was my 3rd trip there. When I return for my 4th trip Castro will be gone and cocaine, guns, and criminal corruption will be there as it was before the revolution in 1959. The only good thing about communism is that it makes people fear their government and keeps tourists like me really safe. Detroit is dangerous. Havana is not. Do the math....
All footage shot by yours truly without any official Cuban government permission. Music used under paid license from Pond5.

Cuba Travel Guide
Shepherd Entertainment takes you on a tour of Santa Clara in Cuba, which surrounded by hills came into existence in 1689
and soon became the center of the region due to its location.
Santa Clara, the seat of the Villa Clara region owes its existence to the fact that the coastal city of San Juan delos Remedios suffered a lot from pirates. The pirates attack caused a majority of the population to look for a safer place further inland. Santa Clara surrounded by hills came into existence in 1689 and soon became the center of the region due to its location. The main square Park Vidal was named after the colonel who died during the second war of independence here. The square looks like any other square in Cuba. It has beautiful parks and is decorated by peacock flowers, boxwood and royal palms with a classical bandstand in the middle.
The houses flanking the square were built in the 1920s and are mainly buildings with pillars and arcades. One of them is the best café in the city, the neoclassical building of Palacio Provincial is decorated by ionic columns and big tympanum. The building houses offices and a library and we could find a cinema, bank and several hotels on the square. The biggest building is the renovated Teatro la Carida. It's tympanum on the façade has a slashed shape rather than a common triangular one.
If it hadn't been for Che Guevara, today's Santa Clara might only have its main square to be proud of. In this way, however, we can't miss the square of revolution and the mausoleum which houses the remains of Che Guevara and 16 of his fellow combatants killed in 1967 during the Bolivia Campaign. In the huge Plaza dela Revolucion, the monumental statue of the hot tempered but ardent commander can be seen from far away. The relief of the pedestal depicts the episodes of Che's life. Across the square, a museum commemorates his life of 39 years.
In 1998, Pope John Paul II held mass here with a crowd of worshipers. Live fast, dangerously and die early. This may be the watchword of every true revolutionary but Ernesto che Guevara lived it. He was born in 1928 in Argentina and was executed in 1967 in Bolivia. Today, he lives on as a legend

CAYO SANTA MARIA (source Wikipedia):
Cayo Santa María (Cay or Key of Santa Maria) is an island off Cuba's north central coast in the Jardines del Rey archipelago. The island is linked by road and bridge to the town of Caibarién on the main island. Cayo Santa María is well known for its white sand beaches and luxury all inclusive resorts.
The island is linked to the mainland near Caibarién by a 48 km causeway constructed between 1989 and 1999 by Campaña de Las Villas. The island is administered as part of Caibarién, a municipality of Villa Clara Province.
VARADERO (source Wikipedia):
Varadero is a resort town in the province of Matanzas, Cuba, and one of the largest resort areas in the Caribbean.
Varadero is best known as a tourist resort town, with more than 20 km of white sandy beaches. The first tourists visited Varadero as early as the 1870s, and for years it was considered an elite resort. In 1910 the annual rowing regatta was started; five years later the first hotel, named Varadero, which later was renamed as Club Nautico, was built. Tourism grew in the early 1930s as Irénée du Pont, an American millionaire, built his estate on the peninsula (now Maison Xanadu or DuPont House). Many famous and infamous people stayed in Varadero, for example: Al Capone.
After the Cuban Revolution in 1959, many mansions were expropriated from their rich owners. These mansions soon became museums. As a symbol of the new integrated tourism for Cubans and foreign visitors of all social classes, the Park of the 8000 Cubicles (Parque de las 8000 Taquillas) was built in 1960.
SANTA CLARA (source Wikipedia):
Santa Clara is the capital city of the Cuban province of Villa Clara. It is located in the most central region of the province and almost in the most central region of the country. With a population near a quarter million, Santa Clara is the 5th largest Cuban city by population.
Santa Clara was the site of the last battle in the Cuban Revolution in late 1958. There were two guerrilla columns that attacked the city, one led by Ernesto Che Guevara and the other led by Camilo Cienfuegos. Guevara's column first captured the garrison at Fomento. Then, using a bulldozer, Guevara's soldiers destroyed railroad tracks and derailed a train full of troops and supplies sent by Batista. On December 31, 1958, the combined forces of Guevara and Cienfuegos (along with other revolutionaries under William Alexander Morgan) attacked Santa Clara. The battle was chaotic, the defenders were demoralized, some fought, others surrendered without a shot. By the afternoon, the city was captured. This victory for Castro's troops is seen as the decisive moment in the Cuban Revolution as Batista fled Cuba less than 12 hours later.

Ernesto Che Guevara
Ernesto Che Guevara, commonly known as el Che or simply Che, was an Argentine Marxist revolutionary, physician, author, guerrilla leader, diplomat, and military theorist. A major figure of the Cuban Revolution, his stylized visage has become a ubiquitous countercultural symbol of rebellion and global insignia within popular culture.
As a young medical student, Guevara traveled throughout South America and was moved by the poverty, hunger, and disease he witnessed. His burgeoning desire to help overturn what he saw as the capitalist exploitation of Latin America by the United States prompted his involvement in Guatemala's social reforms under President Jacobo Arbenz, whose eventual CIA-assisted overthrow at the behest of the United Fruit Company solidified Guevara's political ideology.Later, while living in Mexico City, he met Raúl and Fidel Castro, joined their 26th of July Movement, and sailed to Cuba aboard the yacht, Granma, with the intention of overthrowing U.S.-backed Cuban dictator Fulgencio Batista. Guevara soon rose to prominence among the insurgents, was promoted to second-in-command, and played a pivotal role in the victorious two-year guerrilla campaign that deposed the Batista regime.
Following the Cuban Revolution, Guevara performed a number of key roles in the new government. These included reviewing the appeals and firing squads for those convicted as war criminals during the revolutionary tribunals, instituting agrarian land reform as minister of industries, helping spearhead a successful nationwide literacy campaign, serving as both national bank president and instructional director for Cuba's armed forces, and traversing the globe as a diplomat on behalf of Cuban socialism. Such positions also allowed him to play a central role in training the militia forces who repelled the Bay of Pigs Invasion and bringing the Soviet nuclear-armed ballistic missiles to Cuba which precipitated the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis. Additionally, he was a prolific writer and diarist, composing a seminal manual on guerrilla warfare, along with a best-selling memoir about his youthful continental motorcycle journey. His experiences and studying of Marxism--Leninism led him to posit that the Third World's underdevelopment and dependence was an intrinsic result of imperialism, neocolonialism, and monopoly capitalism, with the only remedy being proletarian internationalism and world revolution.Guevara left Cuba in 1965 to foment revolution abroad, first unsuccessfully in Congo-Kinshasa and later in Bolivia, where he was captured by CIA-assisted Bolivian forces and summarily executed.
Guevara remains both a revered and reviled historical figure, polarized in the collective imagination in a multitude of biographies, memoirs, essays, documentaries, songs, and films. As a result of his perceived martyrdom, poetic invocations for class struggle, and desire to create the consciousness of a new man driven by moral rather than material incentives, he has evolved into a quintessential icon of various leftist-inspired movements. Time magazine named him one of the 100 most influential people of the 20th century, while an Alberto Korda photograph of him entitled Guerrillero Heroico (shown), was cited by the Maryland Institute College of Art as the most famous photograph in the world.
