Cape Town – The legislative capital and seat of Parliament. A world-class city named for its proximity to the Cape of Good Hope. Also within a stone's throw of South Africa's winelands. One of the most beautiful cities in the world, nestled between the sea and Table Mountain, it is a popular summer destination by both domestic tourists and those from abroad.
Durban – Largest city in KwaZulu-Natal, third largest in South Africa and popular coastal holiday destination for South Africans.
Newcastle – 3rd largest city in KwaZulu-Natal, one of the large regional cities in South Africa and Capital of Northern KZN. Famous for Steel Production, Coal Mining, Heavy Industry and is South Africa's Textile Industry Capital.
Johannesburg – The economic heart of Africa and the most common entry point into Southern Africa.
Kimberley -- Capital of the Northern Cape Province. Famous for its diamonds and Big Hole.

South Africa is a paradise for anyone interested in natural history. A wide range of species (some potentially dangerous) may be encountered in parks, farms, private reserves and even on the roads.
The Kruger National Park is exceptionally well managed and a favourite tourist destination.
Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park in the heart of the Kalahari desert with wide open spaces and hordes of games including the majestic 'Gemsbok'. This is the first park in Africa to cross political borders.
There are also a large number of smaller parks, like the Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Park, Addo Elephant National Park, Pilanesberg National Park or the iSimangaliso Wetland Park.

Stay safe in South Africa
======================
South Africa is notorious for an extraordinarily high violent crime rate (although part of this may be due to better crime reporting than most developing countries). It's not unheard of for the police to refuse to leave their air-conditioned offices to investigate crime on the basis that it's too dangerous out there! South Africa is consistently ranked at somewhere between 14 to 18 among the countries with the highest murder rates in the world (31.8 per 100,000 per year as of 2013).
However, by being vigilant and using common sense, you might have a safe and uneventful trip. The key is to know and stick to general safety precautions. Never walk around in deserted areas at night or advertise possession of money and expensive accessories.
Do not accept offers from friendly strangers. Do not wear jewellery or expensive watches. Do not wear a tummy bag with all your valuables, consider a concealed money belt worn under your shirt instead. Distribute your valuables in inside pockets and other pockets. A decoy wallet may also be worth considering. Leave passports and other valuables in a safe or other secure location. Do not carry large sums of money. Do not walk by night in deserted places. Hide that you are a tourist: conceal your camera and binoculars.
Like many developing countries, South Africa is not a good place for solo travellers to use local urban mass transport systems, unless you are a military veteran, a martial arts expert, or are otherwise experienced and confident in your ability to defend yourself against armed muggers in strange foreign environments. Rent a car, take a taxi, or take an escorted tour.
Do not leave your valuables in plain sight when driving in your car, as smash and grab attacks do sometimes occur at intersections, and keep your car doors locked, and windows closed. Know where to go so that you avoid getting lost or having to read a map in public: that will minimize the risk of inadvertently signalling to strangers that you are a tourist.
If you are carrying bags, try and hook them under a table or chair leg when sitting down, this will prevent them from being snatched.
Visiting the townships is possible, but do not do it alone unless you really know where you're going. Some townships are safe while others can be extremely dangerous. Go with an experienced guide. Some tour companies offer perfectly safe guided visits to the townships.
South Africa has very few earthquakes, cyclones, tornadoes, floods, terrorist incidents or contagious diseases (with the notable exception of HIV).

Visit Namibia's ghost town - Kolmanskop. Kolmanskop is a ghost town in the Namib in southern Namibia, 10 kilometres inland from the port town of Lüderitz. It was named after a transport driver named Johnny Coleman who, during a sand storm, abandoned his ox wagon on a small incline opposite the settlement.
Lüderitz is a coastal town in southwestern Namibia. It’s known for its German colonial buildings, including the art nouveau Goerke Haus, built into the rock face on Diamond Hill. Nearby, Felsenkirche is a hilltop church with panoramic bay views stretching around to Robert Harbor. The Lüderitz Museum has displays about the town’s diamond-mining past as well as local and natural history.
Take the journey back from the south and visit the fossilised dunes of the Namib Desert. Visit Namib Desert Lodge and Namib Dunestar Camp.
Eventually the road will take you to the Namib Desert and the coastal town of Swakopmund. Here the desert meets the ocean.

Namibia & Botswana 2017
Have you ever thought of renting a pick-up with roof tents and roadtripping over 7000km in a country where things just seem to have been frozen in time? Well this is what we did for 3 weeks in Namibia and Botswana, where we camped in remote places and saw jaw dropping sceneries!

SA Ramsar - Orange River Mouth
The Orange River is the longest river in southern Africa south of the Zambezi. At its mouth into the Atlantic ocean, it becomes a typical wetland and received Ramsar status across the borders of South Africa and Namibia. This video will give you a view how it looks on both sides and what you can expect to see and do there.

The Orange River (Afrikaans/Dutch: Oranjerivier), Gariep River, Groote River or Senqu River is the longest river in South Africa. It rises in the Drakensberg mountains in Lesotho, flowing westwards through South Africa to the Atlantic Ocean. The river forms part of the international borders between South Africa and Namibia and between South Africa and Lesotho, as well as several provincial borders within South Africa. Although the river does not pass through any major cities, it plays an important role in the South African economy by providing water for irrigation, as well as hydroelectric power.

A short capture of our tenth day in South Africa.
This day we did two safari game drives at Mavela; on in the early morning, and one in the late afternoon running into the evening. During the morning drive we stopped at one point and got the tasty Mavela morning coffee served with Amarula Cream - that is something one could get used to ;)
We got to enjoy beautiful landscapes, great wildlife (cheetah and lions among others) together with the awesome guide Andre and the other guest that all got along very well.
