The oldest city park in California, Alum Rock Park is located in a narrow valley east of San Jose. It consists of Penitencia Creek, steep hillside trails, grassy picnic areas, birds, flowers, deer, squirrels, wild turkeys, and presents views of the Santa Clara Valley and San Francisco Bay. A great place to spend an hour or a day. (Sorry for the low quality. This is an older video from quit a few years ago.)

Alum Rock Park was established in 1872 and is one of California’s oldest municipal parks. From 1890 to 1932 it was a health spa with 27 mineral springs, an indoor swimming pool, tea garden, restaurant, and dance pavilion. It was accessible by Alum Rock Steam Railroad.
