San Jose - A City To See (1972)
This student/amateur film by Louis Ventura, Jr. is a time capsule of San Jose in 1972. With a low-key, one-take voice-over and the Shaft theme as background music, it's an unusual but fascinating historic document of a growing, developing city and its recreational attractions. Aerial views of the city provided on a flight by Cliff Hodges from Aero Trends at Reid-Hillview Airport, film of the rides in Frontier Village, shots inside the Beautiful Eastridge Mall, and shots of PSA and TWA planes at San Jose Municipal Airport are unusual scenes. For the making of this film, Mr. Ventura also visited the San Jose Municipal Rose Garden, Alum Rock Park, Backesto Park, the Rosicrucian Museum, Vasona Park, Oak Meadow Park, William Street Park, and the Winchester Mystery House. Though he may be perpetuating a false story about Sarah Winchester's beliefs, it was the theme-park story of the day to say she thought building the house would gain her immortality. Overall, this film is a glimpse into San Jose's past that we seldom see, but many will remember.

On the Banks of the Guadalupe: The Early Story of San Jose (1995)
El Pueblo de San Jose de Guadalupe, the first civil settlement in California, was founded by the Spanish on November 29 1777. This is the story of the founding of the pueblo and the growth of San Jose from the Spanish period to American rule. The homes of two men and their families, Luis Maria Peralta and Thomas Fallon, remain standing today in downtown San Jose providing us with the opportunity to illustrate the changes in lifestyle and compare the early cultures that formed the foundation of the modern city of San Jose.

About Changing Boundaries:
When it comes to showcasing the immense talent and quality of work that comes out of CreaTV, one need look no further than our documentary project, Changing Boundaries, The History of San Jose, which made its World Premiere at the California Theatre on January 22, 2015.
Produced on a budget of approximately $200,000, the film tells the story of the working people, political leaders and dreamers who built the City of San Jose.
Produced by Norman Kline and CreaTV San Jose, and directed by Tricia Creason-Valencia, the film’s production includes a key collaboration with History San Jose, which provided archival photography and documents.
Narrated by actor Daniel P. Wilson, and featuring an original musical score by Grammy nominee Robert Berry of Soundtek Studios, this first-of-its-kind feature-length documentary showcases interviews with key historical figures, from farmers to civic leaders, including Tom McEnery, Blanca Alvarado and Norm Mineta. Other notable interviewees include historians Terry Christensen, Nannette Regua and Steven Millner.

Restless Valley, a history of the Santa Clara Valley with Clyde Arbuckle, historian
A 4-part series on the history of the Santa Clara Valley, narrated by Clyde Arbuckle at the Statehouse Replica Museum (located at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds). Produced by the San Jose State College Drama Department, with assistance from the San Jose Landmarks Commission. Arthur Dunning Spearman, S.J., Archivist, University of Santa Clara serves as guest lecturer for Part II which deals with the five different sites where Mission Santa Clara was located.
Each segment is 30 minutes, and originally aired on local station KTEH.
Part 1: The geography, and first explorers and settlers.
Part 2: Spanish California: De Anza's overland journey, the mission at Santa Clara (with Father Spearman), and the founding of the Pueblo of San Jose (begins 29:00).
Part 3: Mexican California: Economic expansion, cattle raising, gold, and wheat (begins 59:00).
Part 4: The earthquake, rise of the fruit industry, amusement and entertainment, interurban electric railroads, aviation, and WWII (begins 1:27:00).
Arbuckle's Statehouse Replica Museum was the forerunner of History San Jose. Most of the images seen in this series are part of the History San Jose Collection.
The series was packaged as a videotape in the 1990s with the cooperation of Arbuckle's son Jim, and sold for $19.95. This digital transfer has been made from one of these videotapes.

Quetzalcoatl- The Plumed Serpent is a connection between Earth and sky, the feathered serpent that was considered by some to be the creator of men and by others to be a contributing factor in the destruction of Aztec civilization.
This 3D image was captured during San Jose State University's Tech Jam using a FARO 350s Terrestrial Laser Scanner. With more than 79,000,000 data points collected, the statue is accurate to 2.2 millimeters.
SJSU Digital Media Arts students will print 3D models of the statue and use the latest technology to create interactive historic exhibits.
Copies of the point cloud data will be preserved in the History San Jose archives.
The video created from the scan data came out great. However, when uploaded to YouTube, it has large sections that appear blurred and fuzzy. Considering this is not a point cloud but a video comprised of individual scan positions, I can't believe the amount of data presents a problem for YouTube.(?) However, this is not the first time this has happened, I have several other videos that have the same problem when uploaded to YouTube.
The long range plan is to host the actual point cloud data, along with models, lesson plans and apps on the cloud as part of the world's first online museum; The 22nd Century Museum.
Winchester Mystery House, San Jose California mini tour
The Winchester Mystery House is a mansion in San Jose, California, that was once the personal residence of Sarah Winchester, the widow of firearm magnate William Wirt Winchester. Located at 525 South Winchester Blvd. in San Jose, the Queen Anne Style Victorian mansion is renowned for its size, its architectural curiosities, and its lack of any master building plan. It is a designated California historical landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is privately owned and serves as a tourist attraction.
Since its construction in 1884, the property and mansion were claimed by many to be haunted by the ghosts of those killed with Winchester rifles. Under Winchester's day-to-day guidance, its from-the-ground-up construction proceeded around the clock, by some accounts, without interruption, until her death on September 5, 1922, at which time work immediately ceased.[3] Sarah Winchester's biographer, however, says that Winchester routinely dismissed workers for months at a time 'to take such rest as I might' and notes that this flies in the face of claims by today's Mystery House proprietors that work at the ranch was ceaseless for thirty-eight years.
Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum In San Jose, California
Opened in 1966, the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum has one of the largest collections of Egyptian artifacts in western North America.
You really won't find anything else like this anywhere in Northern California (or elsewhere on the coast) and the price is certainly reasonable. Most of the big stuff is replicas, but I'd rather have replicas than nothing at all. The Rosicurcian order is featured, but easily ignored if not interested.
