Pike Place Market is a landmark of #Seattle, and one of the oldest continuously functioning markets in the United States. I had been there once before when I was a kid, but this time I was on a mission to go on the ultimate Pike Place Market food tour!
In this video you’ll find some of the best food within the market and all the details about what to order and eat when you’re in Seattle, Washington. One tip - go early to start eating before the main huge rush comes - when it gets to mid-day, the market is packed.
Here are all the restaurants we tried at #PikePlaceMarket:
Lowell's Restaurant - For breakfast we went to the legendary Lowell's Restaurant, serving a mix of classic American food including seafood. I wanted to try their dungeness crab eggs benedict, which was a little expensive, but pretty good.
Dungeness crab eggs benedict - $25
Pure Food Fish Market - Next to Lowell’s don’t miss the smoked salmon. Again, it’s not cheap, but it’s so good, salmon glistening and embedded with smoke.
½ Pound salmon - $16.56
Ghost Alley Espresso - Next on this Pike Place Market food tour I was in desperate need of a coffee to begin the morning so we navigated our way past the gnarly gum alley to Ghost Alley Espresso. Great place for a quick cup of espresso.
Doppio espresso - $3
Piroshky Piroshky - A legendary bakery that serves mostly Russian influenced baked goods, both sweet and savory, is Piroshky Piroshky. Again, I tried to keep it pretty classic, and Seattle style, so Jason and I split the salmon pate piroshky. It was very tasty, with a cream cheesy taste.
Salmon - $6.85
Pike Place Chowder - Having won every chowder competition and award in the US as possible, Pike Place Chowder serves America’s #1 Chowder. So you know you can’t miss it when you go to Pike Place Market. We got in line about 20 minutes before they opened and line didn’t take long. You order, get your chowder, and then sit down. I don’t have too much experience with chowder, but indeed it was good, and I also really liked the seafood bisque.
Total price - $37.76 total
Beecher's Handmade Cheese - Another classic is Beecher's Handmade Cheese where you can sample cheese curds and also order grilled cheese sandwiches.
Flagship sandwich - $7.49
Ellenos Real Greek Yogurt - They also have a very loyal following and for sure it’s some of the best yogurt I’ve ever tried.
Market Grill - Finally to end this Seattle food tour we stopped at Market Grill, right in the heart of the market and I ordered the grilled salmon plate. Overall, it was good, and a perfect ending to this extreme food tour!
Grilled salmon plate - $15
Thank you for watching!

SUMMARY
=======
Beecher's Handmade Cheese is an artisan cheesemaker and retail shop with locations in the Pike Place Market, Seattle, Washington and New York City's Flatiron District. The company was founded by Kurt Beecher Dammeier in 2003 and opened in the Pike Place Market after Dammeier obtained a difficult to obtain storefront lease in the Market. Because Dammeier had never been a cheesemaker, he sought out the assistance of Brad Sinko, who helped run a family cheese-making business in Oregon. A second location was opened in 2011 in the Flatiron neighborhood of Manhattan in New York City.
Unlike most artisan cheese makers, Beecher's mainly uses pasteurized milk and operates a high-volume modern production facility, with multiple farms supplying milk. When Beecher's encountered problems in guaranteeing the standard flavor of the milks they were using to make cheese, the company bought their own herds of dairy cattle and farms to ensure control of the cheese products from beginning to end. Beecher's uses various cheese cultures when mixing cheeses, so a cheddar cheese produced by Beecher's may use cultures not normally intended for cheddar cheese production.
Beecher's Pike Place Market cheese-making facility includes a café, which serves grilled cheese and other items, and a retail shop, which sells both Beecher's cheeses and others brands from local Pacific Northwest cheesemakers. The New York location is a much larger space. In addition to the production facility, café, and retail space, it also has a full-service restaurant downstairs referred to as The Cellar. Beecher's also manufactures and sells macaroni and cheese dishes (and other frozen sides), which have received praise in reviews from the national news media. Dammeier and his firm's cheeses have been featured on national television, including twice on The Martha Stewart Show and once on Oprah, with the World's Best Macaroni and Cheese featured as one of Oprah's Favorite Things. A cookbook by Dammeier, Pure Flavor: 125 Fresh All-American Recipes From The Pacific Northwest, has been published, and incorporates recipes used to make various Beecher's products and dishes. In addition to their various business endeavors, Beecher's sponsors the Flagship foundation and Pure Food Kids project, an educational program to teach children in the Seattle public schools system about healthful diets.

Seattle Ferry Ride to Bainbridge Island
Riding the Washington State Ferries from Seattle to Bainbridge Island is one of the most scenic and affordable day excursions. Not only do you get amazing views of the Seattle skyline, but Bainbridge Island is also very pleasant to walk around.
The trip takes just thirty-five minutes. The round-trip fare for adult passengers is just $8.50 (2019). It's a great alternative to a Seattle Harbour Cruise! You can take your vehicle if you wish. However, the town centre on Bainbridge Island is within walking distance of the ferry terminal.
There are two routes operating from Seattle Ferry Terminal to Bremerton and Bainbridge Island. The route from Seattle to Bainbridge Island is the busiest in the Washington State Ferry network with 6.4 million passengers annually.
The Seattle to Bainbridge Island route is operated by the MV Tacoma and the MV Wenatchee. They are both classified as Jumbo Mark II class vessels, the largest in the WSF fleet. Each is capable of carrying up to 2,500 passengers and 202 vehicles at a speed of 18 knots. They are also the second longest double-ended ferries in the world, built between 1997-1999 at Todd Pacific Shipyards in Seattle.
One amenity that I truly enjoy aboard the Washington State Ferries is the on-board galley and cafeteria, which serves up popular Washington State products including:
-Molly Moon's Homemade Ice Cream
-Tim's Cascade Style Chips
-Ivar's Acres of Clams Chowder
-Beecher's Mac and Cheese
-Whidbey Island Ice Cream Bars
Overall, the Washington State Ferries operate 10 routes serving 20 points around Puget Sound and Canada. It is the largest ferry system in the United States and fourth-largest in the world with a fleet of 23 vessels carrying 24 million passengers annually.
Enjoy your Bainbridge Island Day Trip! It is without a doubt one of the most popular day trips from Seattle. The Seattle Ferry Terminal is located at 801 Alaskan Way. Be sure to take advantage of the Seattle Free Waterfront Shuttle service that offers a stop within walking distance of the ferry terminal.
Victoria Clipper V Ferry Tour (2019)
Enjoy a trip from Seattle to Victoria with Clipper Vacations aboard the Victoria Clipper V. From Seattle's Pier 69 to Victoria's Inner Harbour, the trip takes 2 hours and 45 minutes. The Victoria Clipper V is the fastest ship in the Clipper fleet, and one of the fastest passenger vessels in the Western Hemisphere travelling at speeds that can reach up to 36 knots utilizing a waterjet propulsion system. The vessel is capable of carrying up to 525 passengers.
On the Upper Deck, the Comfort Class Cabin features panoramic views, leather seating, and complimentary refreshments in a private cabin. Passengers in the main cabin can enjoy spacious airline-style reclining seats with locally-sourced meals available for purchase. We strongly recommend the Cheese Platter, which features Beecher's Handmade Cheese and Apples from Washington State. The Clipper fleet includes two vessels. The Victoria Clipper V offers passenger service between Seattle and Victoria, while the San Juan Clipper operates between Seattle and Friday Harbor, WA in the San Juan Islands.
Clipper Navigation is a subsidiary of Förde Reederei Seetouristik and is headquartered in Seattle, Washington. Clipper Vacations offers hotel and vacation packages for a number of cities including Victoria, Vancouver, and Seattle.

Seattle, Washington - Pike Place Market - Daily Dozen Doughnuts HD (2014)
Pike Place Market is a public market overlooking the Elliott Bay waterfront in Seattle, Washington, United States. The Market opened August 17, 1907, and is one of the oldest continuously operated public farmers' markets in the United States. It is a place of business for many small farmers, craftspeople and merchants. Named after the central street, Pike Place runs northwest from Pike Street to Virginia Street, and remains one of Seattle's most popular tourist destinations.
The Market is built on the edge of a steep hill, and consists of several lower levels located below the main level. Each features a variety of unique shops such as antique dealers, comic book and collectible shops, small family-owned restaurants, and one of the oldest head shops in Seattle. The upper street level contains fishmongers, fresh produce stands and craft stalls operating in the covered arcades. Local farmers and craftspeople sell year-round in the arcades from tables they rent from the Market on a daily basis, in accordance with the Market's mission and founding goal: allowing consumers to Meet the Producer.
Pike Place Market is home to nearly 500 residents who live in 8 different buildings throughout the Market. Most of these buildings have been low income housing in the past; however, some of them no longer are, such as the Livingston Baker apartments. The Market is run by the quasi-government Pike Place Market Preservation and Development Authority (PDA). The Pike Place Market sees 10 million visitors annually.
Streets, Beats & Eats - Seattle
Seattle is known as the Emerald City due to the fact that the city is surrounded by greenery. You don't have to go out of the city limits, either. Explore Discovery Park, the Seattle Center, and Kerry Park all in one day. You can also get a delicious Vietnamese dinner, take a sunset sailing cruise, and catch some jazz to wind the day down.

Washington State must prepare for a nuclear attack because of the growing threat from North Korea, according to local politician.
Mark Miloscia said the danger to Washington, which is the closest part of the lower 48 states to North Korea, was 'starting to become imminent'.
And he warned that the threat was growing with each weapons test, urging lawmakers to back the bid for an emergency response plan when they meet tomorrow.
The senator – who flew nuclear-ready B52 bombers during the Cold War – also said that America could not rely on the safeguards that once prevented hostilities with the Soviet Union.
Pike Place Fish | Food at Google
The Pike Place Fish Guys stop by the Googleplex for a cooking demonstration and a talk about sustainable seafood. You can find the book on Google Books and Google Play:
From the publicist:
Forget the Space Needle. The true thrill of Seattle lies in Pike Place Market, where the world-famous, must-see, salmon-tossing Fish Guys have been enthralling and educating hordes of fans since 1965. The Fish Guys even inspired the bestselling business book FISH!, which has sold more than 1.4 million copies. In the Kitchen with the Pike Place Fish Guys serves up more than 100 savory seafood recipes and tips answering the most popular question the Fish Guys get: How do you cook that? It features a unique primer on sustainability, with inspiring words from the fishmongers who made Pike Place Fish entirely sustainable in 2011.
Located in the nation's oldest continually operating farmers' market, which draws ten million visitors each year, Pike Place Fish revives the lost art of selecting and preparing seafood. Home cooks will learn how to cook fish and seafood from the pros, including storage and easy cooking techniques, in addition to mouthwatering recipes like Thai Curry Mussels, Anders's Dungeness Crab and Bacon Quiche, Cajun BBQ Shrimp Skewers, and Coconut Maple Salmon. Ideas for entertaining friends (who will clamor for the Fish Guys' clambakes and paella parties) are showcased as well. Readers will easily discover why Pike Place Fish has become America's most recognizable name in the industry, selling 1.5 million pounds of spectacularly perfect seafood each year.
Capturing the fun, free-spirited yet seriously knowledgeable essence of these ambassadors of the sea, In the Kitchen with the Pike Place Fish Guys is the seafood cookbook that will bring a fresh feast of environmentally friendly, chef-quality meals to every home cook.

This is a list of notable cheesemakers. Cheesemakers are people or companies that makes cheese, who have developed the knowledge and skills required to convert milk into cheese. Cheesemaking involves controlling precisely the types and amounts of ingredients used and the parameters of the cheesemaking process, to make specific types and qualities of cheese. The milk may be from a cow, goat, sheep or buffalo, although worldwide cow's milk is most commonly used. Cheesemakers also need to be skilled in grading cheese to assess quality, assessing defects and suitability for release, and cheese ripening. The craft of making cheese dates back at least 5,000 years. Archaeological evidence exists of Egyptian cheese being made in the ancient Egyptian civilizations.
